Would You Go on a Paid Blind Date?
Ohlala literally pays you to go out with guys
After suffering through Tinder, eHarmony, Match.com and Farmers Only, “you couldn’t pay me to go on another internet date,” is a phrase we've heard people say, oh, three to four billion times. Well, now you actually can be paid to go on a blind date in NYC, thanks (or no thanks?) to Ohlala, this insane new app from Berlin.
Here’s how it works: You sign up, download the free app and set the “price” of your company. (Yep, you heard us.) You then decide which guys can see your profile, and if they’re willing to fork out the cash you’ve requested, you both agree to meet up.
The pros: If you’re sick of talking to potential dates online for weeks with nothing panning out, Ohlala promises to match you up instantly with a guy who’s actually serious about meeting you.
The cons: You might wind up in a Julia Roberts-in-Pretty Woman scenario. (Admit it: It kiiiiinda sounds like an escort service--even though Ohlala insists it isn’t.) So there’s that.
