A plain old taxi is a dubious luxury at best--heck, you?re usually riding the Brown Line shoulder to shoulder with hordes of cubicle dwellers at 6 p.m.
For better-than-usual days, you can now treat yourself to a trip across town in an UberSelect, a new-to-Chicago level of service from the mobile car company.
Call an UberSelect and your driver will pull up in a luxury vehicle like a BMW or Lexus. The rides will cost you a little more than a taxi but significantly less than Uber?s high-rolling Black Cars. (We always feel a little silly sitting alone in the back of a cavernous Expedition, anyway.)
Example: A taxi from River North to the West Loop costs about $11; it?s $12 in an UberSelect and $17 in an Uber Black Car.
Here are our top five excuses to spend the extra dough:
1. You just got promoted.
2. It?s your birthday.
3. You closed on a new house.
4. You need to impress someone.
5. The sun is out.
Here?s to riding in style.
