Can You Guess Which Emoji Your State Uses the Most?
Let the debates begin
Ah, the elusive emoji. You've tried learning what each means and what each combination means. You've weighed in on the ones that somehow don't exist (c'mon, tacos!) and have even gone so far as to decipher your personality based on your favorite.
But the favorite of your state? That's a whole other ball game--and a debate the Internet is waging as we speak. Let's take a look.
Popular emoji-keyboard-app Swiftkey just released an interactive map that shows the most popular emojis used in every state. (Well, according to Swiftkey users, but the study was compiled from 1 billion emoji uses, so it's fair to say it's a pretty decent representation.) So what've we got?
Uh, Florida likes to get down.
So does New York...
Whoa, Vermont! That took a turn.
OK, this is how it works: The findings aren't the actual most popular (otherwise it'd be a map of heart-eyed smiley faces and twinkling stars). It measures the emojis by relative use. For example, Texas evidently loves lightbulbs, wine (er, grapes) and oranges more than any other state.
And it seems to be much more vocal about nightlife, traffic stops, princesses and spending money than the average American.
You ready? Check out your own state.
