Remember what the world was like without phone apps? You had to pay full-price for your lunch, set up dates in person and settle for washed out, poorly lit photos of your avocado toast.

Thank goodness those days are over. Here are the six new apps every New Yorker should download.

DISCOVER NEW EATS: WINE ’N DINE

This foodie social media app is the equivalent of stealing food off of your bestie’s plate...well kinda. Follow your friends, then post photos of the dishes you eat at restaurants. If you like plates your friends post, add them to your “wanna try” list for next week’s brunch.

SAVE THE EARTH: INTELLIBINS

We try to do our part for the environment, but we admit it--when we’re late to a lunch meeting, we’ve been guilty of throwing a plastic bottle in the trash instead of hunting the streets for a recycling bin. But with this new app, you’ll always know the closest spot to recycle your bottles, bags, cans, paper and even clothes. Saving the world, one bottle at a time.

LEARN SOMETHING: ASK BROOKLYN MUSEUM

One of the coolest things about living in NYC: There are nearly 100 museums to explore. But unless you were an art history major in college, you probably have no idea WTF is going on in most of the paintings. (Seriously, what’s up with those melting clocks, Dali?) This app connects you with an art history expert who can talk you through each work of art via text.

MEET YOUR FITNESS MATCH: SWEATT

If you run a 10K every weekend, going a blind date with a couch potato probably isn’t going to create any sparks. But the new dating app Sweatt matches you by fitness level and the type of activities you like to do, so you’ll find your boxing, rock-climbing, spinning soul mate in no time. (And even if it’s not a love connection, at least you found a new workout buddy.)

MealPass

SAVE YOUR LUNCH MONEY: MEALPASS

The much-buzzed-about new app is like ClassPass, but for lunch. For a flat rate of $99 per month, New Yorkers can order lunch every day from nearly 100 restaurants, like Kat & Theo, Inday and Blue Smoke. Do the math and you’ll see it’s easily the best deal in town. The only catch is it’s limited to restaurants around Union Square, Chelsea, Gramercy and Flatiron for now.

UP YOUR INSTAGRAM GAME: ENLIGHT

Yes, this photo filtering app is four bucks and the one that’s already built into your Instagram is free. But hear us out--you can turn a cloudy day into a sunny day, change the color of your dog’s fur and even write “YOLO” (although we have no idea why you’d want to do that) across the top of your photos. Sold.
