I've been using the cult-favorite Rich Cream for over two years, and my skin has never felt or looked more radiant, supple and blemish-free. As part of the getting offline movement, I'm seeing analog wristwatches everywhere. One of my favorite hair tools is T3's ceramic curling straightener. My hair is stick-straight and doesn't hold shape very well; I've found some of my longest-lasting curls have been thanks to this innovation, which features 360-degree hot plates. There are nine heat settings to accommodate all hair types and textures; it's also great for quickly and efficiently straightening curly hair. I've been wearing Margaux shoes for four years and have tried many of the brand's styles. I've shopped sample sales, paid full price and bought shoes during Black Friday. So, please trust me when I say, aside from a sample sale or the annual archive/Black Friday sales, the price during the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale is hard to beat. I love Margaux's leather boots and find them surprisingly comfortable and warm, even in the dead of winter, and the Imogen is currently my favorite. The 1.5-inch heel is walking-friendly, but the slim cut makes it feel flirty. The heel is also inset, providing the best weight distribution of all the boot styles I've tried so far. You can nab this pair in black calf or espresso suede; I have them in black but have half a mind to get them in brown, too.

Meet the underwire bra for people who hate wearing bras. This nylon/elastane garment is praised for being *so* lightweight and soft while offering comfortable support, even for larger chests. The deep plunge and molded mesh of the contour cups make it especially flattering under clothing, while delicate lace accents add a pretty touch. That said, it's no wonder a PureWow editorial contributor gave it a glowing review. She raved, "between the soft feel of the fabric to the thin, lightweight padding that felt so malleable and non-suffocating on my skin, I almost forgot that I was even wearing a bra." Anne Hathaway Left in Tears on the 'Today' Show

Even though Spider-Man: Brand New Day premieres today, I'm just going to call it and say The Odyssey is the summer's blockbuster. No matter the numbers, Christopher Nolan's follow-up to 2023's Oppenheimer has made the money and received the critical acclaim that'll guarantee the buzz lasts until award season starts up again. Perhaps only slightly better than the movie itself was the fantastic press tour, with tons of heartwarming soundbites. Anne Hathaway has been a particular standout, with the mom-to-be sharing a sweet moment with the hosts of the Today show that left her teary-eyed.

Towards the end of the interview, Today show host Craig Melvin presented the Oscar-winner with a baby gift courtesy of the network's wardrobe department. Inside the wicker basket was a crocheted Trojan warrior outfit, complete with a helmet, cape and diaper cover. Upon receiving it; Hathaway was moved to tears.

"The is appropriately epic," she said as she cooed over the set.

Melvin also joked that Hathaway had made everyone else in the industry look lazy, referring to her five 2026 movie releases (The End of Oak Street and Verity forthcoming and The Odyssey, Mother Mary and The Devil Wears Prada 2 behind her) and pregnancy announcement.

Hathaway was accompanied to the interview by co-star Tom Holland, who plays her son in The Odyssey. Of the experience, the Spider-Man actor shared, "I was lucky I had Annie; we had some of our first days together. Lucky that I had Matt. And Chris is an actor's director; he's so helpful, he's so kind. One of the things that I love, and Matt has said this while we've been on tour, is that every movie that he has made has led to this moment, and the same for Chris. For me as a young actor, [getting] to see these titans of our business using every tool they have in the workshop to build this movie, it was just a treasure trove of lessons. I really feel I left this experience a better actor."

The Surprising Reason Pamela Anderson Won't Be in the New Baywatch

It's hard to imagine Baywatch without Pamela Anderson. The actress became a household name with her role as lifeguard C.J. Parker on the '90s action-drama series, alongside co-stars David Hasselhoff and Yasmine Bleeth. So, when news broke that the show was being rebooted for a new generation, speculation immediately swarmed: Would Anderson reprise her role? Even if only for a brief cameo?

As of now, The Last Showgirl star has no plans to don the show's famous high-cut red one-piece. Why? In a recent interview with Deadline, she summed things up succinctly: "No one’s reached out to me. I don’t know much about it."

At one point, there was a chance her family—and potentially, by extension, Anderson herself—could have gotten involved: "I know that they were talking to my sons at some point about producing, but I don’t think they had a meeting of the minds. I’m not sure what happened there, but I wish them well," she explained, later adding, "If my kids were involved, I probably would have listened to them."

While she may not be involved with the latest iteration, she has nothing but love for the series. "It was a great job, and I loved going to work every day on the beach. I would have been there anyway," she laughed. "At the time, it taught me a lot, and it gave me worldwide exposure. Everything I’ve done has led me to here, which is a blessing. But I have no plans of going back to Baywatch."

Rather than retread familiar territory, Anderson is more interested in exploring new roles that stretch her creatively.

"Now is my time to really play with different characters," she told Deadline. "I have options, and some things I’m thinking about, including some theater again. I want to make really bold choices. I want to surprise people. I want to surprise myself. And so I’m trying to do things I haven’t done in the past."

And surprise people she has. From her role as Roxie Hart in Chicago to her most recent turn as the deceased matriarch in the drama Rosebush Pruning, Anderson has been showcasing a range that extends well beyond running in slow-motion on the beach (as iconic as that was).

Over the past few years, she's launched a cookbook, a limited-edition line of pickles with Flamingo Estate, co-founded vegan skincare line Sonsie and started a Substack, The Open Journal, where she shares her thoughts, poetry and philosophies on life and love. Moving across the country is stressful, to say the least. There are a ton of moving parts to mull over—finding a place, for one, gauging a neighborhood in a city you’ve never lived in, figuring out how to transport your stuff 3,000 miles. But, having just gone through this entire process, one thing I never thought twice about was which sofa I wanted as the centerpiece in my new home.

It’s Fully Customizable—and Easy to Visualize in Your Space Before Buying

If you’ve ever dreamt of becoming a furniture designer, Cozey makes it an effortless reality. Nearly every aspect of the Atmosphere sofa can be customized to your liking, from the configuration, to the shape (rounded or square), to the height of the armrests to, of course, the fabric. Available in a range of gorgeous colors, there’s corduroy, chenille, bouclé, a textured weave and ultra-durable performance polyester, and yes, they are all machine-washable. You can add an ottoman, a chaise or both, as well as opt for seats with hidden storage.

Now, our new place has a small living room with a bit of an awkward layout. So one thing I loved about browsing Cozey was its option to view a 3D rendering of the couch in your space in virtual reality. Welcome to the future, folks. All you have to do is scan a QR code to your smartphone or tablet, then point your camera at the space where you’d like the sofa to go. This feature made it easy to visualize the couch in our room, try out different positions and decide on the perfect size, all before placing an order. By the time it arrived, we knew exactly where it would go and how it would look, which saved us all the time and effort it would have taken to play around with the physical pieces. Delivery and Assembly Was (Mostly) Painless

In an ideal world, you would snap your fingers and a fully built couch would appear in your living room. Alas, there is some elbow grease required to put this baby together, but thankfully, not too much. As of now, Cozey does not offer White Glove delivery and setup, but the brand does deliver all the boxes to your doorstep. The hardest part of the whole process might have just been getting those inside, then getting each piece out of the box.

Otherwise, the process (which you can see in this video) is simple—though admittedly time consuming. There are no tools, screws or tiny pieces involved. You just have to hand-screw the legs into each base, slip on the fabric covers (all of which are labeled to their corresponding units) then slide and snap the arm and backrests into the seats via metal racks. (It’s kind of like a giant, cushioned Lego set.) Once each module is assembled, you connect them by placing their legs into plastic connectors on the floor (the legs are recessed slightly, so you don’t see these connectors).

My boyfriend—bless him—was able to do most of this on his own before I arrived, although it is recommended to have a second set of hands to help with lifting and sliding the pieces in. He did need my help to lift the completed modules and snap them into the leg connectors, but that was it.

The Hidden Storage Is a Godsend

As I mentioned, our place is on the smaller side, so the base storage in the sofa (and ottoman) has been a total lifesaver. My boyfriend has a 6-year-old son with a passion for building Lego and Magna-Tile metropolises, and we’re able to stack boxes upon boxes of his various kits inside a single unit. Another base holds my collection of throw blankets and pillows, while another is filled with my boyfriend’s extra wires and electronics. That’s four spacious storage containers (each with an up to 79.5-liter capacity) that can be easily accessed with the simple lift of a cushion.

I’ll admit that while I knew I wanted the built-in storage option, I was a little nervous that the hollow bases would make the seats less comfortable. I’m happy to report that is certainly not the case. The foam seat cushions are nice and thick—cushy enough to conform to your body, firm enough to offer plenty of support. I’ve never been a fan of sofas that you sink deep into, so I find this balance to be absolutely perfect. You would never guess that they’re sitting atop storage compartments. The back and arm cushions feel the same, and I love the cozy, snuggle-ready corners formed by the high-angled armrests.

The seats themselves are also impressively roomy. Each module is wide and deep—I could completely curl up on one and still have room left over. The three-seat configuration we went for spans just over 9 feet long (including the armrests), so my 6-foot-2 boyfriend can lay completely flat across it without his feet hanging over the side.

As for the upholstery? We opted for the chenille fabric in the rich Bordeaux burgundy and—whew—it is so soft and so luxurious. It’s not scratchy in the least, but it also feels thick and durable. I am very particular about textures and can’t think of a single thing I would change about it.

Cleaning Is a Breeze

Luckily, we haven’t had any major messes to clean up yet (knock on wood), but for the sake of this review—and since it often doubles as our coffee-slash-dining table—I have so far removed and washed the ottoman cover. All it took was unfastening the Velcro closures, slipping it off and throwing it in the wash on a cold cycle. However, the covers must be air-dried flat, which took about a day. When I placed it back onto the ottoman cushion, the cover hadn’t lost its shape or soft chenille feel, nor was the color any less vibrant.

Cozey has so many well-designed sofa options, but what hooked me on the Atmosphere was its sleek, sculptural lines that make it feel distinctly modern, yet classic enough not to run the risk of looking dated in a few years. This is a couch I could see growing and evolving with our home and our family well into the future.

Bottom Line: Is the Cozey Atmosphere Sofa Worth the Hype—and the Money?

For the past three months, the Cozey Atmosphere sofa has served as the central hub of our space. It’s our office (my boyfriend and I crack open our laptops on either armrest, which are flat, wide and sturdy enough to use as makeshift desks), our movie theater, our breakfast, lunch and dinner table. In an unfamiliar city, it has quickly become the thing that makes my new home actually feel like home. I spend hours on this beauty daily, and almost every time I sit back down on it, I can’t help but to turn to my BF and say, “God, I love this couch.”

Starting at $1,480 for the basic two-seater, the Atmosphere isn’t exactly the cheapest option out there. I Used a Moisturizer-Free ZO Skin Health Regimen for 3 Months—Here’s My Product-by-Product Review

A few months ago I accepted an invitation from ZO Skin Health—the namesake brand of renowned dermatologist Dr. Zein Obagi—to experience a facial using some of the brand’s hero products. I walked into Diamond Advanced Aesthetics, a Madison Avenue med spa, and was greeted by a woman serving caviar and blinis from a station strapped to her leather apron, along with members of the brand’s marketing team, who all had the brightest, glassiest complexions I had ever seen. (Talk about good marketing.)

Among them was Michael Marcano, ZO Skin Health CMO, who walked me through the brand’s history and Dr. Obagi’s unique skincare philosophy. At its core, the philosophy focuses on promoting the skin’s natural cell turnover and supporting its moisture barrier. You’ll find numerous exfoliators and antioxidant serums in the line, but, notably, no moisturizer. Quite controversially, Marcano explained, Dr. Obagi doesn’t recommend the regular use of the product. His claim is that it causes skin dependence, compromises barrier function and weakens skin’s ability to hydrate and renew itself. Shocking, I know—but also intriguing.

With that revelation in mind, I headed into the treatment room where the esthetician scrubbed, steamed, patted and massaged my skin using a ZO Skin Health lineup. I’m glad she took before photos, because I was blown away by the afters; my face was noticeably lifted, my pores smooth and decongested, my skin beaming with an all-over glow. And, yes, despite the lack of a traditional moisturizer, my skin felt plump and hydrated.

I was an instant believer. So when I met afterward with Karen Eustache, a licensed esthetician with the brand, and she prescribed a personalized ZO Skin Health skincare routine based on my skin type and goals, I was more than willing to try. Three months later, here’s my product-by-product review of the regimen—and an update on my skin.

The first step of any skincare routine is, of course, a good cleanser. This one is electric blue and smells so refreshing. It’s formulated to be gentle and used by all skin types, which is great for me and my combination skin. Ingredients include oat amino acids and a botanical blend that delivers antioxidants while cleansing. What I love about it is that it leaves my skin feeling clean but not stripped, so I don’t experience any dryness afterward.

2. ZO Skin Health Exfoliating Polish

Confession: I don’t exfoliate my skin nearly enough. At every facial appointment I’ve ever gone to, the esthetician would take one look at my nose and scold me. The dryness, the flakiness, the congested pores—all of this, they would tell me, would be addressed by exfoliating. Alas, I remained hesitant due to how dry the process would always make my skin feel. But given how crucial it is to the ZO Skin Health philosophy, I embraced this exfoliating polish. I only use it a few times a week (although the goal is to actually use it every night), and immediately after scrubbing, my face feels baby-smooth and soft. I haven’t been this obsessed with toner pads since my days of using Stridex religiously (IYKYK).Thankfully, these feel a lot gentler on the skin and don’t leave it feeling stripped and dry. Each plant-based pad is soaked in a mixture of glycolic and salicylic acid, two chemical exfoliants that clear the gunk out of pores and wipe away dead skin cells. The formula also boasts a botanical blend meant to calm the skin, which helps bring balance to the treatment. Instead of looking red and raw after swiping one (or two) of these across my face, my complexion looks bright and even-toned, my skin instantly smoother and more refined. I love using one first thing in the morning because it makes my skin look fresh and awake, but I’ll also reach for one at night. More than once, I’ve been surprised by how much dirt and oil the pad picks up in the evening, even on days when I skipped makeup and only walked to and from the coffee shop.

4. ZO Skin Health Instant Pore Refiner

When I mentioned my concern of enlarged-looking pores on my nose and the inner corners of my cheeks, the ZO Skin Health team recommended the Instant Pore Refiner. The lightweight serum targets pores in two ways: first, by reducing oil to mattify the skin and, second, by lightly exfoliating the area. I apply it either day or night (sometimes both) just on my nose and across the top of my cheeks. On its own, the formula can feel a bit drying, which is kind of the point. But with regular use, I’ve noticed far less buildup around my nose and less prominent pores. I won’t lie and say they’ve disappeared, but they no longer catch my eye the second I look in the mirror, which says a lot.

5. ZO Skin Health Illuminating AOX Serum

Consider this a.m. serum a suit of armor for your skin—one that glints and shines in the sun just as much a literal one. In the daytime, I follow up the pore refiner with this antioxidant-packed formula, which purports to provide all-day protection against environmental stressors (including pollution) to combat signs of early aging, all while supplying a luminous finish overall. It feels light and hydrating, and immediately revitalizes my complexion. No dullness here. It’s also the perfect step before sunscreen because it creates a silky-smooth canvas without causing pilling.

6. ZO Skin Health Daily Power Defense Serum

In the evening, after cleansing and applying the pore refiner, I reach for this serum. The first word that comes to mind to describe it? “Soothing.” So, so soothing. Given that it’s formulated with vitamins A and E, plant stem cells and a plant-derived polysaccharide complex (aka sugar molecules) for hydration and barrier support, it makes sense. Applying it after a long day feels like giving my skin exactly what it needs to recover.

7. ZO Skin Health Growth Factor Serum

Last, but certainly not least, is the product I look forward to using most. I’m 35 and hoping to extend the time before I turn to injectables, so I’m all about a topical solution that addresses fine lines and the loss of skin density and firmness. Made with plant- and enzyme-derived growth factors, this luscious, velvety serum brings a suppleness to my skin like no other. And while it feels rich—richer than any other ZO Skin Health product in my lineup—it doesn’t smother my skin. It still feels like my pores can breathe. 3 Months In, My Overall Results

I started this ZO Skin Health regimen in the middle of a cross-country move, so my skin was battling stress, a new, drier environment and a major shakeup from its typical routine. I also flew back and forth from L.A. to New York multiple times in a span of a few weeks. Needless to say, these products had their work cut out for them. But consistency paid off. My complexion, which had become red, splotchy and bumpy during the transition, has finally settled down.

The four had returned to their college apartment after a night out, and were later found stabbed to death the following morning. Bryan Kohberger, a criminology student not affiliated with the university, was convicted after a weeks-long manhunt.

The documentary's meteoric rise comes at the same time that Kohberger has announced his intention to rescind his guilty plea. In a statement shared with the New York Times, he said, "My actual innocence is my truth, and the plea, hinged on by false promises and blatant disinformation, MUST be withdrawn."

The 28-year-old is currently serving four life sentences at the Idaho Maximum Security Institution. If Kohberger is successful, his case will go to trial.

Anyone undergoing cancer treatment knows that it's hard to focus on anything else, something the Princess of Wales deeply sympathizes with. The royal was diagnosed with an undisclosed type of cancer in the spring of 2024, and has spent the last couple years in treatment, recovery and now the reentrance into public life. Princess Catherine has taken on many engagements championing cancer care since, including a visit earlier this summer to a treatment center in Manchester, where she visited with patients and congratulated a tearful young mother who was ringing the cancer bell that day. The Princess was also forthcoming about her own experience, sharing about a new hobby she picked up while in the hospital.

In a conversation with one of the patients posted on X, Princess Catherine revealed that during her treatments, "I didn’t have the ability to read or really focus on anything." She went on to share the surprisingly wholesome hobby she turned to in order to pass the time: Coloring. "[It] was my way of exploring interesting things and being able to do something that did not require an end product, or an end finished piece...[it's] just a way of playing and losing yourself," she said.

Astute royal fans will know that this hobby isn't new—Princess Catherine has been a documented coloring book fan for a decade. InStyle reported that Prince William mentioned his wife's love of the activity while presenting Scottish illustrator Johanna Basford with an OBE for services to art and entrepreneurship. The Prince of Wales told Basford that Princess Catherine enjoyed the latter's 2013 coloring book, Secret Garden.

2026 has proved to be Princess Catherine's comeback year, as she's taken on a full plate of engagements including garden parties, family weddings, Royal Ascot and Wimbledon. But the pièce de résistance has certainly been her completion of the National Three Peaks Challenge, during which the royal mom of three ascended the tallest mountains in England, Scotland and Wales in 24 hours with the goal of raising money for The Royal Marsden, where she completed her cancer treatment. Though challenging, Princess Catherine said, “Everyone’s been so generous. That’s what keeps you going; it’s when you know you’re doing it for a good cause it keeps you going through the harder times.”

She was met at the base of the last mountain by her family: Prince William and the children, along with her parents, who came to greet her and her brother, James Middleton, who accompanied her. There, she and Prince William shared a rare, affectionate, emotional hug. (Even Princess Charlotte was crying.)

We Taught Our Kids to Be Anxious, But We Can Also Teach Them to Flourish

I’m an avid fan of Dr. Aliza Pressman’s parenting podcast, The 5 Principles of Raising Good Humans, and a recent episode stopped me in my tracks.

Pressman was speaking with neuroscientist Dr. Richard Davidson, founder of the Center for Healthy Minds at the University of Wisconsin–Madison, and he shared a reassuring idea: Flourishing is contagious.

By flourishing, he means taking responsibility for our own brains, such that they move in healthy directions rather than becoming hijacked by external forces like phones, news or people around us. In other words, well-being isn’t something you’re born with, it’s a skill you develop. He argues that specific mental exercises are the gateway to such flourishing and, even better, it’s contagious from person to person and specifically parent to child. As we cultivate these skills ourselves, the people around us being to reflect them.

For parents, this is welcome news. After all, we spend so much time worrying about the crappy qualities we might pass down to our kids—anxiety, stress, overwhelm. And we’re right to clock this. According to the American Journal of Psychiatry, one of the most notable features of anxiety disorders (which happen to be the most common group of disorders) is that they run in the family thanks to anxious parents who model anxious behavior. In other words, generational trauma and negativity is the product of environment.

But Dr. Davidson, who studies cutting-edge neuroscience and ancient contemplative wisdom, makes the case that the very same neuroplasticity can also re-wire the brain. We can teach ourselves to flourish and we can show our kids how we do this.

Dr. Pressman sums this up succinctly on her Substack: “One of the most powerful things we can do for our children is not what we do to them or for them, it’s who we are around them.” (Kids are especially receptive to this kind of modeling around birth, between the ages 5 and 7 and then again in adolescence, says Davidson.)

So how do we ensure we’re showing up as the person we want to be in the presence of our kids? Davidson says it starts with intentionally practicing the four building blocks of human flourishing.

The first is awareness—our ability to be fully present and engaged with our kids. He also highlights meta-awareness, or the ability to notice what your own mind is doing. (Has your child ever spent 10 minutes recounting every detail of recess only for you to realize you retained almost none of it? The moment you catch yourself drifting is meta-awareness kicking in.) The goal isn’t to stay perfectly focused all the time, it’s to pay attention to those moments when your mind has wandered and gently bring it back.

The second is connection, or how we relate to others and our sense of belonging. Do we prioritize and demonstrate gratitude, kindness, compassion, appreciation, and love? This can look like asking your partner how their day was, thanking the cashier or holding the door for someone carrying something heavy. These everyday moments support emotional well-being while teaching empathy and compassion.

The third skill is insight. This one is slightly more abstract, but it’s the idea that we all carry stories about who we are and what we’re capable of. “We know that there are some people who have very negative beliefs about themselves,” Dr. Davidson says, noting that kids pick up on such low self-esteem. As parents, we can help our children build more accurate stories about themselves by teaching them to recognize that emotions and reactions are temporary experiences, not fixed truths about who they are. For example, instead of saying, “I always get angry before school,” try, “I’ve noticed I tend to get impatient when I feel rushed.” That small shift helps children see that emotions and reactions are patterns to notice, not fixed parts of their identity.

Finally, there’s purpose. This isn’t about discovering some grand life mission. It’s about knowing your values and considering how the ordinary moments of everyday life reflect the kind of person you hope to be. Our role here is to help our children recognize that their actions matter. If you volunteer to clean up the local park, what’s the impact? Does your job somehow help individuals or your community? Make sure your kids know that!

The point isn’t to turn these four traits into another parenting checklist. It’s simply to turn your attention inward rather than always trying to improve outcomes for your children. Kids just have to be in your orbit to benefit.

Yes, there are a lot of streaming services, and, yes, there's a lot of buzz around the latest releases. But just because something's trending or on lists of most-viewed titles doesn't mean it's always worth a watch.

The past few weeks have delivered a ton of great new content, from The Odyssey to The Five Star Weekend. And this week is no different.

Allow me, an entertainment editor, to help you parse through it all with shows and movies that are actually worth watching. I'm talking blockbuster movies like Spider-Man: Brand New Day, exciting returning shows like Lioness and buzzy documentaries like The Idaho Murders: College Nightmare. Enjoy the best selections (recommended by yours truly) on Apple TV, Prime Video and more.

From Furious to The Devil's Mouth, here's what to watch this weekend.

1. Spider-Man: Brand New Day

Rating: PG-13
Runtime: 145 minutes

No, it's not The Odyssey, it's the other Zendaya-Tom Holland big-budget movie of the summer. Spidey is back but MJ's memory is not after that tragic twist ending last time around. I'm just excited for Sadie Sink's secret Marvel character to finally be revealed (my money is on Jean Grey).

2. Lioness

Rating: TV-MA
Number of seasons: 3

This star-studded series, which features Nicole Kidman and Zoe Saldaña, follows female operatives as they infiltrate terrorist organizations. Per Paramount+, "Hidden networks, foreign operatives and personal betrayals collide" in season three. Cool cool, but my real question is, how did Nicole find time to film another show?!

3. Furious

Rating: TV-MA
Number of seasons: 1

Emmy Rossum of Shameless fame plays a disgraced detective who is out to hunt down a female serial killer. This new thriller is already receiving rave reviews and has a whopping 100 percent fresh rating on Rotten Tomatoes. Oh, and it's loosely based on a 1987 movie called Black Widow.

4. I Want Your Sex

Rating: R
Runtime: 90 minutes

Along with Nicole Kidman, who is in everything, Olivia Wilde has to be one of the hardest-working women in Hollywood. Fresh off of The Invite and The Studio, Wilde now stars in this wild (pun intended) new dramedy about fantasy, sexual muses and murder.

5. The Bombing of Pan Am 103

Rating: TV-MA
Number of seasons: 1

This series about the tragic 1988 airplane bombing isn't a documentary, but it is based on the true story. It stars several of my TV favorites, including Connor Swindells (Sex Education) and Merritt Wever (Severance), and follows the hunt for the attackers.

6. The Devil's Mouth

Rating: PG-13
Runtime: 105 minutes

Kathryn Newton and Lana Condor star in this Prime Video thriller about five friends who accidentally become trapped in a series of flooded cave tunnels. But because that isn't terrifying enough, they're being hunted by a deadly shark. (You know, in case you didn't get your fix during Shark Week.)

7. Fightland

Rating: TV-MA
Number of seasons: 1

Is it the most creative of show names? No. Will I have to subscribe to Starz now? Possibly. This crime drama—which comes from Curtis "50 Cent" Jackson—follows a former heavyweight champion boxer who leaves prison after eight years and, naturally, he's out for revenge.

8. Diarra from Detroit

Rating: TV-MA
Number of seasons: 2

This dark comedy starring Diarra Kilpatrick is back for more with a whole new mystery. In season one, Diarra is a schoolteacher who gets drawn into a years-old kidnapping case—and now in the latest season, she's looking at a triple homicide. Critics and audiences loved the first go around, so I'm excited to see what the latest iteration delivers.

9. The Idaho Murders: College Nightmare

Rating: TV-MA
Number of seasons: 1

Another week of Netflix, another horrific true-crime docuseries. This one focuses on the brutal murders of four University of Idaho students. We'll get candid interviews and never-before-seen footage. And it's dropping just in time, as the real-life convicted killer is trying to take back his guilty plea.

10. Final Project

Rating: TV-MA
Number of seasons: 1

Introducing the latest Mexican teen-drama series to hit Netflix. Though details are sparce on this one, Netflix's description reads, “New school, new start, until vicious online attacks and a classmate’s twisted challenge spark a dangerous bond that pushes Tamara toward transformation.”

11. House of Stassi

Rating: N/A
Number of seasons: 1

Forget Vanderpump Rules. Stassi Schroeder has an all-new reality series called House of Stassi, which follows her life as a wife and mother. Nothing is off-limits in the show, according to Schroeder, who also says, “There’s one thing I know how to do on reality TV, and it’s bleed out with honesty.”

12. Elite Force

Rating: TV-MA
Number of seasons: 1

This action-packed French drama follows an elite police force as they try to take down the bad guys. The gritty series might not feature any super familiar faces, but it is already on Netflix's top 10 most-watched shows list, so it's clearly a hit with viewers.

13. A Toxic Love Story

Rating: TV-MA
Runtime: 89 minutes

This terrifying 89-minute documentary involves a revenge plot, cyberstalking, fake pregnancy tests and a U.S. marshal. My BFF told me, "A Toxic Love Story is another one of those good, crazy, messed-up documentaries on Netflix. This was a fun one." So I gave it a watch, and wow, this movie is wild.

14. Stuart Fails to Save the Universe

Rating: TV-MA
Number of seasons: 1

This Big Bang Theory spinoff follows the owner of a comic book store, Stuart, who accidentally brings about a multiverse-level armageddon. Now, he and a gang of fellow misfits must try to set things right. Based on the show's title, I'm guessing things don't go quite as planned.

15. The Dink

Rating: PG-13
Runtime: 102 minutes

Apple TV has really been on a roll lately (Widow's Bay, Margo's Got Money Troubles...), and now it seems the streamer has another hit with this Happy Gilmore-esque movie starring Jake Johnson, Ben Stiller, Ed Harris and Mary Steenburgen. A washed-up tennis pro turns to pickleball (unthinkable!) in this promising new comedy that's number one at the moment.

Guys, Do I Need to Move to Columbus?

I travel quite a lot as part of my job, so I’ve been fortunate enough to visit some very exciting destinations, from Tuscany to Las Vegas. But in my recent travels, one Midwest city took me completely by surprise: Columbus, Ohio. The bustling city is an incredible place to visit, whether for vacation, business or something in between.

My partner, my dog and I spent four days in the city for Columbus Pride this past June, and I was floored by the hospitality, the community, the food and even the fashion (yes, really).

Here, why I can’t wait to travel back to Columbus.

The Stay

One of the best neighborhoods to stay in Columbus? Undoubtedly, Short North Arts District. There is so much to do and see—and it’s all really walkable (a plus for a New Yorker like me). And sitting right in the heart of Short North is Le Meridien Columbus, The Joseph.

The hotel is known for its gorgeous art which adorns the lobby and second floor gallery area. Its lobby boasts a comfy and cool café called Soul, where we spent quite a bit of time during our visit. Soul has an incredible cocktail menu highlighting former Columbus establishments’ cocktails. It also has a fabulous bartender, a perfect evening-ending French Pinot Noir and a great burger (that I decided to take with me to my room).

The front desk staff was beyond friendly, as were the door attendants who got to know us well throughout our stay. The Joseph is also clearly the place to be—it was home to the Ecuadorean World Cup soccer team during our trip.

The room itself was large and comfortable. Make sure you save yourself plenty of time to lounge in bed with a glass of Prosecco and some Law & Order: SVU (a favorite vacation pastime of mine). Upon my arrival, I was even greeted with a welcome bottle and a few Pride-related treats in my room.

The hotel is also dog-friendly, which was perfect for my 12-pound pup Bubbie, who made himself right at home whether we were in the room or lounging in the lobby. And as the hotel is only a block from Goodale Park, we had a convenient place to take the little guy for a stroll.

The Food

Prior to my visit, I had no idea that Columbus was home to so many good food options, from restaurants to coffee shops to bars to food halls. Throughout my trip there were several notable standouts—and I highly recommend stopping by each of them.

First of all, Lincoln Social Rooftop is the perfect high-altitude stop to take in the sunset. The lively rooftop lounge/bar/restaurant offers a great cocktail selection and excellent service. But perhaps most surprising was how good the food was (considering it gives “lounge vibes”). Allow me to suggest the chicken dumplings—talk about *chef’s kiss*!

Cento, an Italian spot with a spacious outdoor dining area, is also a standout. There was amazing service, we got to sit outside next to a fountain (romantic!), the housemade pasta is next-level, and the bread is some of the best I’ve ever eaten.

Forno offers great pizza and cocktails, along with lovely outdoor seating. I’m still thinking about the spaghetti and meatballs from Marcella’s.

I also highly recommend stopping into Charmy’s Market for a casual lunch and to pick up any grocery needs (forget Whole Foods; this should be your market). I had the most incredible homemade Persian food (see the photo above) that was clearly made with care and love by Charmy’s owners/head chefs, Sherry and Rezi.

Looking for a great coffee or breakfast spot? Fox in the Snow offers a delicious coffee and even more delicious baked goods (the selection is huge, but I’m still dreaming about that giant sticky bun). Lox offers a top-notch bagel (strong praise coming from a New Yorker). Pro-tip: Order ahead because the lines here can get very long.

Jeni’s Splendid Ice Creams is an institution in Columbus. The dairy-free peppermint patty flavor was unreal (as in, I genuinely couldn’t believe it was dairy-free). There is almost always a line, but it moves fast and it’s so worth it.

The Fashion

I also had the good fortune of stopping by The LOOM for a tour while I was in town—and I not only learned a lot, but I came to realize just how fashion-forward the city of Columbus really is. In fact, Columbus has hosted headquarters for fashion powerhouses like Victoria’s Secret, DSW, Express and Abercrombie & Fitch.

The LOOM itself is a fascinating place to visit, especially if you’re into fashion. The constantly evolving space serves as a fashion incubator for both the new and the established to collaborate, do their work, share their work, host gallery events and even relax over a coffee. (It’s right around the corner from the aforementioned Charmy’s, so it’s the perfect chance to knock out two must-visit spots back-to-back.)

The Pride and the Community

As I mentioned, my partner and I timed our visit with Stonewall Columbus Pride, a massive annual Pride festival supporting the LGBTQ+ community. Let me tell you, Pride is an incredible time to visit—and Columbus clearly hosts an LGBTQ+ community with deep, strong roots.

We watched the moving and massive Pride march from Hyde Park Prime Steakhouse (splurge for the VIP viewing ticket—it’s worth it!). The march—which grew from 200 participants in 1981 to hundreds of thousands of attendees today—is a joyful, colorful, magical experience. In a day and age where corporations seem to be shying away from the queer community so as not to face backlash, I was surprised by just how many corporations and companies joined the throngs of proud Midwesterners in the march.

Our VIP viewing area offered the perfect vantagepoint for watching the march announcers—including the iconic Virginia West.

Following the march, we attended the equally massive Pride Festival in Goodale Park. There were hundreds of vendors, live entertainment, great food and supportive community members and visitors throughout the Festival. Our dog Bubbie not only loved it, but he was unsurprisingly a hit with every stranger we encountered.

Later in the day, we took in an unparalleled drag show marathon over at District West (home of Virginia West, Nina West and dozens of other first-rate drag performers). My partner and I sipped cocktails outdoors in the shade as one after another, talented drag and dance artists gave top-notch performances.

Honestly, as someone who has experienced New York Pride, I was floored by the energy and support from the Columbus Pride-goers. And beyond just the Pride events, there was clearly a vibrant LGBTQ+ community that existed year-round.

We encountered such vibrant community members in a number of queer spaces like Torso, a great gay clothing store; Samson Men’s Emporium, a must-visit for men’s apparel; Union Cafe, which is the place to be; Club Diversity, which has tons of outdoor seating and is so inexpensive (two cocktails and a soft pretzel for $12?!); District West, which as I mentioned is an institution; and so, so much more.

7 Nantucket Airbnbs That Feel Like They Belong on ‘The Five Star Weekend'

Jennifer Garner’s latest project, The Five Star Weekend, is now streaming on Peacock, and as buzzy as the series—based on author Elin Hilderbrand’s novel of the same name—is, its backdrop is getting just as much attention. Nantucket’s coastal charm is just as much a character as Garner’s Hollis Shaw, a food influencer planning a snazzy long weekend at her family’s beach house as a way to move forward after the sudden death of her husband.

Amid the secrets and the pent-up grief and the tension of friendship on the brink, my mind kept wandering: How could I get a summer cottage in one of New England’s hottest destinations? If you’re wondering the same thing, I’ve taken the liberty of rounding up seven Airbnbs that would have served as the perfect backdrop for The Five Star Weekend in their own right. From sprawling properties to cottages and condos, each one has a kitchen Hollis would approve of, plus easy access to all the fun the island has to offer. Enjoy, and may your own friends’ weekend be drama-free.

1. Sconset Summer Cottage

The Five Star Weekend filmed in the hamlet of Siasconset, fondly referred to as Sconset, on Nantucket’s eastern point. While not the exact cottage that hosted Hollis and her friends, I’d make a sure bet that she’d approve of this one. Notably, there’s a sprawling lawn and hammock where you can cram in with the girls for sunset confessions, a patio deck with lounge chairs for midnight hangs, and, importantly, a sprawling kitchen with an island around which you’ll gather to prepare tasty meals. It’s been specifically designed to entertain crowds, complete with its own entrance that looks out on to the Atlantic Ocean, with a gas grill on the patio.

2. Historical Rose-Covered Cottage

Another great Siasconset pick is this dreamy rose-covered cottage, which I’m sure Hollis wouldn’t object to. This historical property has all the trappings of a New England summer: Shingled shiplap, white picket fence, European-style furniture and boathouse screen doors. It’s also listed on the Historical National Register of Historic Structures. It features a fully equipped luxury kitchen and front patio that leads directly to a public stairway to the beach. The home is locally owned by a family who has won numerous awards from the Nantucket and South Shore Historical Societies for their work restoring older properties.

3. Cisco Surf Shack

On the western side of the island closer to the ferry is Cisco Surf Shack. It’s within a mile of plenty of local destinations, including Cisco Brewery, Bartlett Farm and Cisco beach. The center of the island is 2.5 miles away, making for a quick bike ride or leisurely stroll. The charming cottage has exposed beams and lots of natural light; a well-appointed kitchen and dining area allows you to entertain a crowd of six. Outside, you’ll find a private sprawling garden with hammocks and patio chairs that provide the perfect spot for an afternoon under the sun with a good book and a cocktail.

4. Cuddle In Cottage

Surfside is one of Nantucket’s most popular beaches, and the Cuddle In Cottage is just a mile from it. You have easy access to a bike path from the property that will take you into town or the beach. In the cottage, you’ll find a cozy, rustic-chic kitchen, cathedral ceilings in the living room and French doors; the home is also scattered with local art and island decor. Tall hedges separate this guest house from the main property; outdoors there’s a grill and beach chairs for casual group gatherings.

5. Nantucket Town Cottage

If you’re like me and get itchy when you’re away from a city and the walkable freedom it provides, then this cottage might be for you. The cozy one-bed/one-bath studio has high ceilings and sleeps two people. It’s complete with a full bathroom and impressively well-stocked kitchenette. While it is in the town center, it comes with a parking spot and is tucked away on a quiet street, so you can still feel a world away while being in the center of the action.

6. Classic Nantucket Cottage

I’m imagining a girls’ getaway here, if I were Hollis without the budget for a small estate. This airy loft space sleeps four, has a little kitchen island around which to gather, luxe furnishings and impeccable interior design that feels like you’re getting a five-star weekend no matter where you are. And the wallpaper. Did I mention the ocean-themed wallpaper?!

7. Nantucket Condo

I’m certain a Nantucket getaway couldn’t be easier than booking this condo, which is accessible via a ten-minute walk as soon as you step off the ferry. The newly renovated property boasts an updated bathroom and kitchen; the latter has relaxing sage green paint and gleaming brass hardware. Its central location means you can walk to major local attractions like the Nantucket Whaling Museum and the historic main street, and dip into local eateries, like Bar Yoshi. If you have a car or bike, you can venture out further; Cisco Brewers is a favorite and about a 15-minute ride from the town center.

Your Monthly Horoscopes: August 2026

Whoever you are, August will change you. No zodiac sign is spared during this month, and I think for many of us, that’s a relief. You see, above all, August 2026 is about eclipses. Eclipses bring fast speed endings and sudden beginnings. You think something will take months and it happens in days. You’ve been stuck, feeling like you’re making no progress on something, then boom, it’s done. Or, just as likely, boom, you realize it was the wrong thing all along and you know exactly what the right thing is. You stop trying to force things and instead follow your bliss, finding yourself along the way. That’s the way eclipses work.

There are two eclipses in August, and they are very different from each other. But together they make up this summer’s eclipse season, which will be active from about a week before the solar eclipse to a week after the lunar eclipse (August 5-September 3). The first eclipse is a solar eclipse in Leo on Wednesday, August 12. Solar eclipses occur on new moons, working to super-charge them. What we have there is a powerful new beginning in the sign and significations of Leo. The area of your life that it governs will likely undergo sudden and significant changes, but because this eclipse occurs closer to the south node, this will be about the sudden abandonment of an old story that holds you back. The eclipse is the opportunity to shed a too-tight exoskeleton and walk into a new version of existence and expression. Leo wears the crown, but the monarchy needs new clothes.

The second eclipse engages a very different storyline and area of life. Since September of 2024, we’ve been having eclipses in the Virgo/Pisces axis, and the lunar eclipse on the night of Thursday, August 27 is the final Pisces eclipse. Lunar eclipses take place on full moons and mark the ending or completion of things. This one is complicated. The sun is together with Mercury during the eclipse, and together they formulate a master plan for how to fix or repair, but Uranus interrupts. Uranus, the planet of rebellion and instability, frustrates plans with unexpected developments and distractions, refusing the neat and controlled narrative. We may plan on wrapping up whatever happens in Pisces, but anything left unfinished is likely to cause a big scene. Despite an ending, the feeling of closure is probably not in the cards.

Set in the foreground of the eclipse drama is a flurry of activity as all the personal planets change signs at least once and create complex personal experiences engaging everything that happened in July.

On August 6th, Venus will leave meticulous Virgo for her home sign of Libra, soothing relational conflicts and bringing more peace to all things beauty and pleasure. If you’ve been struggling to enjoy the summer, Venus’s time in Libra should make the good stuff more accessible. Soak it up because by August 31st she enters the pre-shadow of her upcoming fall retrograde.

Mercury shifts signs twice this month. On August 9th, Mercury will leave Cancer for the first time since early June, giving a final farewell to the retrograde themes that have colored much of the summer. In Leo, Mercury sheds nostalgia for the theatrical, performing as much as communicating. Mercury will zoom through Leo and enter Virgo on the 25th. Both its home sign and the sign of its exaltation, Virgo is where Mercury is at its best—thank goodness. Mercury is the master at analysis and managing moving parts, helping navigate all the changing schedules as we head into the fall and back-to-school season.

Mars too will change signs and tasks, moving from frenetic Gemini to protective Cancer on August 11th. Mars in Cancer can be a delicate transit: emotions run high, and people are much more prone to taking things personally. Reactivity is a significant risk, and it is harder to ask for things directly. While in Cancer, Mars will trip over Neptune on the 17th, making desires and intentions more unclear.

A moment of harmony and balance occurs on the final day of the month when Jupiter and Saturn gaze at each other from their respective fire signs of Leo and Aries, allowing the free flow inspiration of all the changes that the eclipses have wrought.

That said, it’s not entirely crickets and it’s not bad either. The moon begins the week in Aries, moves into grounded Taurus on Wednesday, and sets off the weekend in chatty Gemini. It’s in the final quarter and waning down towards next week’s new moon solar eclipse.

Chiron stations retrograde on Monday, August 3rd. Chiron is perched on the doorstep of Taurus, offering the pilot episode to the seven-year long stint there. It brings both the wounding and the medicine of and for the natural world. Chiron will retrograde back into Aries for some closing remarks on September 17.

The saxophones get louder midweek as Wednesday the 5th marks one week out from our first eclipse. You may start to feel areas of life ripe for change. This often manifests as the feeling of hitting a wall in some area. Something has to give, and it will.

On Thursday the 6th, Venus enters Libra, the sun harmonizes with Saturn, and Mercury leaves the post-shadow. This is definitely the day with the most action, but all of it is positive.

This machine in all its glory—its 35-pound, $400 glory—is not for the faint of heart. It is an investment. You will need to store it some place. However, if you regularly entertain large groups, there could not be a better showstopper short of gathering your guests around the stove as you flambé bananas foster. (And, FWIW, I'm sure neighborhood kids would go nuts. You'd be the best parent on the block. Is this the new lemonade stand?)

If you do take the plunge, the SLUSHi Twist earns its keep. It's a one-button operation, produces frozen drinks with amazing texture and doesn't require any babysitting. Having just tested a similar machine that needed tons of babysitting and still flopped at the same price point, I can attest that Ninja delivers. Before/After: How I Turned My Tiny 15’x15’ Backyard into a City Oasis

It’s a major privilege that my apartment in Brooklyn also happens to come with a tiny plot of outdoor space. With two kids, now 8 and 2, I’ll admit that it was this highly coveted amenity that led my husband and I to sign on the dotted line of our lease. (That and the close proximity to one of our favorite sandwich shops.)

Before moving in, I had grand visions of what we could do with it—how we’d utilize the space for al fresco dinners and to provide our city-loving kids with easy access to the outdoors. But, as life goes, it was always a piecemeal project. I inherited a storage shed from the tenants who lived here before us; swapped out the market umbrella for a cantilever style in order to achieve more shade (worth it); and invested in a variety of rug sizes to cover up the gravel, which came with the space.

But it was hard to make it all feel cohesive. And with a beloved playground across the street, we ended up relying on that for any “backyard” play.

This summer, with help from Yardzen, I decided to prioritize my tiny patch of concrete once again and put some actual effort into it. Here how my micro makeover turned out.

How I Worked with Yardzen

For those unfamiliar, Yardzen is a virtual service that pairs you with a talented landscape designer to create a plan for your backyard. Once you align on the final look, depending on the package you choose, they’ll supply you with 3D renderings, CAD drawings and even pair you with a vetted contractor—not to mention, work within your budget and provide discounted product recommendations—to help bring your vision to life.

In my case, I selected the Signature Backyard package, which allowed me to info dump images of my backyard in its current state, plus exact measurements, to my assigned designer alongside details in terms of what I hoped the 15-foot by 15-foot space could become.

I also shared that I wanted it to be a place to lounge and hang out in the summertime, as well as a place to congregate for family dinners and doing homework after school. My intention was for the space to include functional storage and greenery, but still be a place where the kids (for example, my two-year-old) had room for a water table while the grown-ups (me and my husband) could enjoy a post-kid bedtime glass of wine before the fall weather turns cool.

After uploading those assets and goals, I received early renderings with the option to do two rounds of revisions to narrow down the final look.

The Before

As you can see, the space was largely…a mess. My kid’s soccer net took up the majority of the square footage, but it also, quite frankly, didn’t feel inviting at all. One hard lesson learned from a New York winter: Outdoor cushions have to be stored. (They won’t survive it otherwise.) Another pain point: The increased volume of rainfall that the city now tends to get. This means that the loose gravel moves, leading it to be uneven in various spots. I worked with my building to re-gravel and even it out for this project. That effort wasn’t costly (about $6 a bag), but also immediately improved the overall aesthetic.

The Creative Process

1. Layout Matters

After receiving the photorealistic renders of my backyard from the landscape designer, I was immediately impressed by how he maximized the space. Since moving in, it always felt like we had room for an outdoor sofa or a dining set—not both. But swapping out my loveseat and two-chair set for L-shaped seating (I went with the Elise outdoor sectional from Article) made my tiny space feel much more open and like there was still ample room for a mealtime setup (I opted for this rust-proof option from Burrow). I even kept the coffee table but opted for something a bit more sturdy and less matchy-matchy in order to create more visual interest. Made from a hand-cast stone composite, it adds texture beside the wood and aluminum of the other two pieces—but also an additional spot to set out a pizza box or board game for family game night.

2. Put Functionality First

It’s no surprise that city living means everything is compressed. As a result, every bit of square footage—even outdoors—needs to be maximized. To do this, my designer helped me land on an outdoor storage setup that was horizontal instead of vertical, instantly creating space for kid-sized bikes, scooters and outdoor tools. The cantilever umbrella came in handy, too, since it meant that I could tuck the pole in the far corner (versus intersecting the yard) while still ensuring ample daytime shade. I also played around with the outdoor lighting, adding this solar lantern from Frontgate and restringing the lights so that they provided better evening ambiance.

3. The Details Are Everything

One of the things that was most notable after working with my Yardzen designer was the attention to detail. For example, choosing a sofa with enough depth to lean back; incorporating texture where possible (see the above note about the coffee table); and investing in the micro flourishes that tie it all together (for example, the placemats and gingham napkins for outdoor dining, but also a few strategically placed plants). I also really wanted to get a rug that was the right size (meaning it reached beneath the couch and the table) and also one that could hold up to the elements vs. pooling with water after every downpour. This option, which I picked up from Home Depot, fit the bill—and also gave everything a cohesive look. (I’ll add that this handy tool from Shark, called the BlastBoss, has been critical when it comes to whisking tracked dirt and tiny bits of gravel off the rug to keep it looking extra pristine.)

4. Don’t Skimp on the Plants

For anyone who doesn’t necessarily have a green thumb, this is another area where Yardzen’s help is critical. My designer was able to take notes about the environment into account (not just the geographic location, but the fact that for much of the day, my yard gets full sun) in order to make credible suggestions in terms of the best plants. The reccos are all curated in a tab within my Yardzen account, but since I went with a DIY approach, I took the suggestions straight to my nearby garden center in Brooklyn and sourced everything—perennials like the Olga Mezitt Rhododendron to the butterfly weed and foxgloves—myself. But again, it all comes back to the tiny details: Positioning the tall planter in front of the A/C to block out a potential eye sore in the space; picking up a couple of battery-operated uplights that I could tuck into the Veradek long planters. TLDR: This effort did teach me that the greenery is going to be an evolution. It’s a process and so my plan is to space my plant investments out.

The After

To see it all come together—and with a bit of elbow grease on my part—was a treat. The space not only feels comfortable and elegant, it feels functional. The proof is in the amount of time we’ve been spending outdoors. My kids are eager to dine al fresco and we’ve been playing rounds of Uno late-night with my eldest after the little one goes to bed. The final pain point I need to solve is about protecting those couch cushions—and, frankly, all the furniture—during inclement weather. But, TBH, something like this is perfect. Here’s to enjoying the rest of summer (and a picturesque New York fall) outdoors.

But it turns out, even successful movie stars have regrets, as The Odyssey actress revealed in an interview with her co-star, Matt Damon.

During an interview with Harper's Bazar UK, Damon asked Hathaway if there was a role she'd turned down that she still thought about.

"Not really. What I regret is the way I've turned things down," she reflected.

"What I know now is that you always meet with the director," Hathaway continued. "You just get a feel for each other. The director of that project is somebody that I have wanted to work with since, and I don't know that I'm going to get the opportunity. He really wanted me for this part and there's something about it that didn't resonate with me. I thought I was being respectful by giving them a bunch of quick nos but he came back a bunch of times and in hindsight, I should have sat down with him, should have looked him eye-to-eye, explained what was going on for me and given him a chance to plead his case."

Damon then revealed he nearly had the same story and had planned to turn down Ridley Scott's The Martian, the 2015 space epic starring the actor as an astronaut stranded on Mars after a freak accident.

"I had just done that part in Interstellar and I got so in my head," Damon recalled. "I said, 'I just played a guy stranded on a planet, I can't then go and play a guy stranded on a planet.' This is me just classically, stupidly overthinking things. So I said that out loud to Ridley, and without missing a beat he [says], 'Oh, no one gives a sh-t.' And I was like, 'Alright, I'll do it.' And it was one of the great decisions I made in my life because it was a great role. Ridley and I had a ball doing it."

Netflix’s 'A Toxic Love Story' Is So Wild, You’ll Think It’s Scripted

If there’s one thing I’ve learned as an entertainment journalist, it’s that people can’t resist a good true-crime story. Whether it’s The Tinder Swindler, Worst Neighbor Ever, or The Crash, the genre always seems to find a way into Netflix’s coveted Top 10. The latest documentary to join the lineup? A Toxic Love Story.

So, what exactly is A Toxic Love Story about? Set in a glamorous California suburb, the documentary explores a shocking 2016 case involving a disturbing framing plot, cyberstalking, and a web of digital deception. Currently sitting at number two on Netflix’s Top 10 movies list (right behind a particularly polarizing film), A Toxic Love Story takes viewers on a wild ride filled with twists and turns.

Even PureWow’s VP of News and Entertainment was hooked, saying,“This is by far the best true-crime documentary I've seen in a long time (and I've watched a lot of 20/20 specials). I dare say the surprises are even bigger than in Unknown Number: The High School Catfish.”

“It honestly feels like this was a scripted episode of Law & Order: SVU because there are so many twists. There's a reason I stayed up until 1 A.M. watching it,” he added.

As for why Kelly is away, the reason is surprisingly relatable. Mark revealed during Monday’s episode that his wife recently underwent gum graft surgery.

“Her dentist said five years ago, ‘You can do it in about five years,’ “ Consuelos shared during Monday’s broadcast. “And she joked, ‘I didn’t think I’d still be on the air in five years.’”

Mark also gave viewers a glimpse into Kelly’s recovery process, explaining that she has to follow a few not-so-fun rules, including avoiding talking, sticking to soft foods, skipping straws, and resisting the temptation to check the surgical site while it heals.

“Yeah, it’s painful,” Mark said of her recovery. “But she famously doesn’t feel pain. When she goes into the dentist she doesn’t use the novocaine. But this one hurts, so I know it’s bad.”

There was a time when your watch was impossible to miss. Remember the era of 2010's fashion that was defined by oversized Michael Kors watches? The ones that weighed (what felt like) six pounds and took up half your forearm. In the 2010s, bigger was better. The watch was THE accessory.

Then came the smart watch and our wrists became command centers. Instead of making a fashion statement, they were measuring our heart rate, counting our steps, buzzing with texts and reminding us to stand up. Maybe you were an early adopter. Maybe you loved closing your rings. Maybe you wanted everyone to know your resting heart rate before they knew your last name.

But now the pendulum has swung in the opposite direction. Today, the coolest watch on your wrist might look like it belongs in your grandmother’s jewelry box. Gen Z has affectionately dubbed them grandma watches and they are ultra-tiny, vintage-inspired timepieces that are so dainty they look like bracelets. They’re delicate, understated and the complete opposite of the Baby-G watches of 2005. And while they may not sound fashion-forward, they’ve become one of the summer’s dopest accessories—even luxury brands are tapping in, just look at the Cartier Mini Baignoire and Bulova Goddess of Time styles. The trend has found plenty of celebrity fans, too. Gen Z style stars like Olivia Rodrigo and Lily-Rose Depp have embraced petite, vintage-inspired watches.

The watch industry classifies anything under 30 millimeters as mini, but today’s most coveted styles measure between 18 and 26 millimeters. Compare that to the supersized watches that dominated the 2000s and early 2010s, they practically disappear. They’re so tiny, they get lost in a stack of bangles or nestled beside a tennis bracelet.

Ironically, the trend has expanded beyond wristwatches, too. Ring watches are making a comeback, while pocket watches clipped to belt loops have found an unlikely audience among fashion people who enjoy dressing like eccentric art collectors.

The Analog of it All

Part of the appeal is what grandma watches don’t do. They don’t buzz, count your steps, or tell you how much sleep you had the night before. They don’t interrupt dinner to tell you you’ve hit your stand goal. Gen Z has grown up in a world where nearly every device (and increasingly every accessory) is tracking something. So much so, that choosing a watch that simply tells time is taboo.

If I’m being frank, after years of smart watches optimizing our lives, there’s something nice about having one that just tells time. I’m touting it as the fashion equivalent of putting your phone on Do Not Disturb.

It’s also part of a broader return to objects that exist purely because they’re beautiful. Just as younger shoppers are gravitating toward landlines, film cameras, wired headphones and vintage iPods, tiny analog watches reject the idea that every purchase needs to be high tech. And yes, I know watches aren’t technically jewelry. But sometimes, you don’t want a tiny computer on your wrist. You just want something pretty.

Unlike oversized luxury watches, mini versions often come with a lower price tag simply because they’re smaller. Vintage shops are also packed with petite watches from decades past, making it easy to find a unique piece without spending a fortune.

So…Where Does That Leave Smart Watches?

I’ll admit, I’m a fan. I tested the Apple Watch Series 11 while currently training for the 2026 Nike After Dark Half Marathon, and it’s hard to argue with features like real-time pace tracking, heart-rate monitoring and customizable running workouts. When I’m logging miles, I want ALL that data. But when I’m getting dressed? Eh…that’s another story. Smart watches aren’t going anywhere, but Grandma watches are making fashion watches feel exciting again. And in an era where every device wants your attention, there’s something undeniably luxurious about wearing one that asks for nothing at all.

This weekend was packed with major entertainment moments. Christopher Nolan’s highly anticipated The Odyssey arrived, San Diego Comic-Con revealed a major Black Panther 3 casting update, and Ryan Gosling officially joined the MCU conversation, just to name a few. But one of the sweetest moments came from Sandra Bullock’s 62nd birthday celebration and a heartfelt tribute from her longtime friend and Practical Magic co-star Nicole Kidman.

Taking to social media, Nicole, 59, shared a throwback-style photo to her Instagram Stories featuring the two actresses walking through a hazy field as the sun rises or sets behind them.

“Happy Birthday to my beautiful witchy sister,” Nicole wrote over the photo, adding two purple heart emojis.

While I can’t confirm whether Sandra and Nicole are actual witches, their iconic Practical Magic characters, and the ones they’ll soon reprise in the upcoming sequel, certainly are. So, Nicole’s caption feels like a fitting nod to the magical bond fans have loved for decades.

The post also mirrors the sweet birthday tribute Sandra shared for Nicole back in June. Sandra celebrated her onscreen sister’s birthday with a heartfelt Instagram video highlighting their friendship over the years.

“Happy birthday to my witchy sister. Call it magic when I’m next to you,” Bullock captioned the compilation, which featured memorable moments from their friendship, including scenes from Practical Magic, behind-the-scenes footage, and clips from their girls’ night at a Coldplay concert in 2025.

Practical Magic 2, due out in September, will pick up after the events of the original 1998 film, which was based on Alice Hoffman’s 1995 novel. This time around, the Owens family legacy remains at the center of the story as new secrets emerge, forcing the sisters to confront parts of their past they thought they had already left behind.

The Internet Can't Decide if Netflix's #1 Movie Is Hilarious or a Total Miss

Believe it or not, even with the endless list of new movies and shows hitting streaming services every week, I still find myself scrolling for way longer than I’d like to admit trying to figure out what to watch. That was exactly the case this weekend until I landed on one of Netflix’s newest comedy films, which has since skyrocketed to the top of the platform’s Top 10 movies. The title? 72 Hours.

The film follows a 40-year-old executive (Kevin Hart) who is desperate to save his struggling career. His solution? Joining a group of twenty-somethings (Marcello Hernández, Mason Gooding, Kam Patterson, Ben Marshall) on a chaotic three-day bachelor party after he’s accidentally added to their group text.

Mike Epps, Teyana Taylor, and Katt Williams also make appearances, adding even more recognizable faces to the cast.

Based on the trailer alone, it’s pretty clear 72 Hours is giving major The Hangover energy. It’s the kind of movie that’s built around ridiculous situations, over-the-top moments, and not taking itself too seriously. But based on the internet’s reaction, it seems like not everyone loved it. In fact, viewers are pretty divided.

On Rotten Tomatoes, critics gave the film a less-than-impressive 16 percent score, while audiences landed somewhere in the middle with a 48 percent rating. And the reviews reflect that split.

For every viewer calling it a “Super fun watch! Cracked up quite a few times,” there was another who argued, “It seems like an attempt to make something 'so bad it’s good,' but only achieved the bad.”

Another reviewer seemed to land somewhere between the two sides, sharing, “I actually found moments in it laugh-out-loud funny…There are also a lot of jokes that felt flat and weren't funny at all.”

And honestly? I kind of agree with all of them.

There were moments where I couldn’t help but laugh at how absurd things got, but there were also times when I caught myself thinking, “Wait, where is this going?” Still, I didn’t press play expecting a cinematic masterpiece. I was looking for something entertaining to pass the time and an excuse to watch a few actors I enjoy seeing on screen.

So, if you’re wondering whether 72 Hours is worth streaming, I say why not? At the very least, you’ll have something to talk about afterward.

Zendaya Stuns in Plunging Dress and Spider Heels at 'Spider-Man' L.A. Premiere

Fresh off the heels of The Odyssey, Zendaya turned around and began a hard-launch press tour for Spider-Man: Brand New Day. This is the fourth installment in the franchise starring Tom Holland (and the 38th in the Marvel Cinematic Universe!). Naturally, the actress has nailed every look, collaborating with longtime stylist Law Roach to create on-theme outfits that leave fans buzzing. Last night's Los Angeles premiere was no exception, with Zendaya walking the carpet in a plunging gown.

The Spider-Man star arrived on the blue carpet of the Dolby Theatre in Ashi Studio FW26 Couture and Boucheron jewelry; her coordinating Christian Louboutins accented with spiders in place of a bow on the vamp, and webbing running across the nude stilettos. The gown, with its deep, sculptural V-plunge was also reminiscently buggy, with straps that ended in antennas and the ruching of the skirt evoking a caterpillar.

Zendaya was accompanied by her co-star (and husband) Holland, who wore an appropriately red custom Jacquemus suit, burgundy loafers and navy tie. They were joined by Sadie Sink, who stars in an undisclosed role, Jon Bernthal (Frank Castle/The Punisher) and Jacob Batalon (Ned Leeds).

Spider-Man: Brand New Day hits theaters July 31, picking up where Spider-Man: No Way Home left off. Peter Parker is living with the fallout of the spell concocted by Dr. Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch), which caused the world—including his loved ones—to forget that he exists. Peter now spends his days defending New York City from crime as the anonymous Spider-Man, while trying to figure out how to bring back Ned and MJ's memories. Things take an interesting turn when a powerful threat emerges, and, simultaneously, Peter's superpowers begin to evolve into something potentially dangerous.

The 6 Best Shows of July, Hands-Down

When it comes to July's streaming options, I've been impressed. There have been really solid new and returning TV shows, like Silo season three.

Among the top standouts though? Jennifer Garner's buzzy new hit, The Five Star Weekend, which obviously made this list. (Gemma Chan, who you should certainly recognize, gives a fabulous performance, as does Garner.) Ride or Die is also a July favorite, featuring the incredible duo-I-never-knew-I-needed, Hannah Waddingham and Octavia Spencer.

From Project Runway season 22 to the Legally Blonde prequel Elle to Survival of the Thickest, here are the six best shows of July 2026, hands-down.

1. Elle

This pink-centric Legally Blonde prequel series takes us back to 1995, complete with Mariah Carey tunes and Days of Our Lives references (the demon-possessed Marlena clip is particularly inspired). Nostalgia aside, the Lexi Minetree-led show is just really fun to watch. Minetree is a stellar, lovable Elle Woods, and, thankfully, she doesn't just deliver a flat impression of Reese Witherspoon's iconic performance. The show was renewed for a second season, an unsurprising fact considering viewers gave it a respectable 74 percent on Rotten Tomatoes.

2. The Five Star Weekend

This show is a must-watch thanks to its five leading ladies: Jennifer Garner, Gemma Chan, Regina Hall, Chloë Sevigny and D'Arcy Carden. The drama is real as these women spend a weekend together trying to celebrate life and heal. In the process, they reveal shocking secrets and cope with the major difficulties in their lives. Despite its gorgeous Nantucket setting, the show features none of the murder or over-the-top-ness of other beautifully-set series like Revenge or The Perfect Couple. It's just good old-fashioned conflict, tears and emotional growth. With a side of Timothy Olyphant.

3. Ride or Die

This is the buddy action-comedy I've always dreamed of. Ride or Die is incredibly funny and so fun to watch. Oh, and whoever cast this show deserves a medal. Octavia Spencer and Hannah Waddingham play BFFs, only one of them has a secret: She's a world-class assassin. The fast-paced series puts the duo in a plethora of enjoyable situations and predicaments, from having to escape a hitman on a speeding train to going incognito at a nightclub to track down a target. There are lots of twists, lots of laughs and lots of Waddingham kicking ass.

4. Project Runway

I know, I know. The show has had 22 seasons, but it still seems as fresh as ever (even if the addition of judge Tyra Banks is a little suss). The first episode gives us a whopping 22 contestants vying for the crown, including several familiar faces from last season and other reality shows (like RuPaul's Drag Race). Shockingly, six of them get the ~~chop~~ auf wiedersehen after only one challenge. Like the best seasons of this show, the personalities are big and the cattiness among the designers is strong. And right off the bat, I'm living for many of these looks—and for Law Roach's eyerolls.

5. Lucky

Anya Taylor-Joy plays Lucky, a con artist with a big problem: She was involved in the theft of ten million dollars that some very bad people want back. One of those very bad people? Her mother-in-law, a terrifying Annette Bening. Another great member of the cast? The aforementioned Timothy Olyphant (who has clearly been working overtime) as Lucky's imprisoned father. This action-thriller is super enjoyable from the get-go, throwing us right into the drama as Lucky is pursued by both the bad guys and the FBI. This role is a huge (and fun) departure for Taylor-Joy, who many know from The Queen's Gambit and The Menu.

6. Survival of the Thickest

The third and final season of this Michelle Buteau dramedy just arrived on Netflix, and it is really great. The writing is fast-paced and funny, with the jokes flying at you a mile a minute. Buteau is fabulous as our lead, Mavis, as she tries to juggle IVF and starting a career as a plus-size fashion designer. Though I'd recommend starting from season one, this is a show where you could just as easily dive in with the start of the latest season. The episodes are short and breezy, but a lot happens in each one. Will Mavis (and her career and her love life) land on top? I'll be binging the rest of the latest season to find out.

11 Documentaries for Tweens That They’ll Actually Want to Watch

I’m going to go out on a limb and say many of us let our tweens get away with having more screen time than we really want. Personally, I’ve been on the losing side of that battle for quite a while. For this reason, I’ve started to concern myself less with how much my kids watch and more with what they watch. There are plenty of great educational TV shows for younger kids, but once they’ve outgrown Octonauts, tweens start gravitating towards a whole bunch of YouTube brain rot, and it becomes increasingly difficult to get them to watch anything with educational value. The antidote? This list of 11 documentaries for tweens—hand-picked to include only the most engaging (i.e., dramatic! exciting!) choices around. Find one that speaks to your kid’s individual interests and let the learning begin.

1. The Year Earth Changed (2021)

Why It’s Worth Watching: explores the effect of the pandemic from a different perspective, themes about sustainability, beautiful imagery

The Year Earth Changed is an impactful and visually beautiful nature documentary, narrated by David Attenborough, that looks at the Covid-19 pandemic through an entirely different lens. My 11-year-old daughter loved this film, explaining, “It basically just covers how the animals felt more comfortable and how nature thrived without us around. It was really interesting to see how plants and animals were affected in positive ways when we are all quarantined.” Indeed, the bleak implications here were not lost on my daughter, but it was a good conversation-starter about human behavior and how we interact with our environment. Plus, there are plenty of super cute animal scenes to keep the mood light.

2. Queen of Chess (2026)

Why It’s Worth Watching: strong female lead, age-appropriate political themes, positive messages about hard work and perseverance

This one was my 9-year-old son’s top pick, but the whole family (tween daughter included) enjoyed it. The documentary chronicles the groundbreaking rise of chess grandmaster Judit Polgàrd, a brilliant female player who rose to the top of a male-dominated field with determination and confidence. There are certainly some objections that might be raised when it comes to the parental influence that set Polgàrd on the track to international success—the father decided to homeschool both his daughters to prove that he could create two geniuses through rigorous chess instruction—and there are mentions of poverty and police surveillance in the context of the authoritarian Hungarian government of the ‘70s.

Still, it’s a fascinating biography with a strong female hero and a storyline that will have everyone rooting for the underdog. Or, as my son put it, “I love chess and it was really cool to see how she didn’t listen to all the bullies who were trying to tell her she wasn’t smart enough to win.”

3. Secrets of the Octopus (2024)

Why It’s Worth Watching: awe-inspiring marine biology, visually beautiful, entertaining

“Are octopuses smarter than humans? Probably? Are they more lovable? 1,000 percent. This docuseries made my entire family fall in love with the spineless wonder—from its incredible intelligence to its mind-boggling beauty as it camouflages into its surroundings,” says PureWow Editor-in-Chief Jillian Quint of this three-part National Geographic special. Colorful, engaging and educational, this one checks all the boxes—just keep in mind that very sensitive viewers might be upset by some scenes that involve octopuses hunting and being hunted.

4. Our Planet (2019)

Why It’s Worth Watching: calm pace, realistic, stunning visuals

The marvels of the natural world are explored in this 12-episode docuseries, which features stunning imagery and David Attenborough’s soothing narration. From the Sahara Desert to the Amazon Rainforest—viewers take a journey far and wide, learning about the diverse species that we share the planet with and how they are affected by both natural struggles in the wild (survival methods, reproduction, death, etc.), as well as the growing human population. There are scenes that accurately depict hunting, killing, famine and other realities that sensitive viewers might find jarring, though I find the intensity of these moments is offset by the calm pace of the show. That said, it’s a visually beautiful and highly educational watch. It’s also a perfect choice if you don’t want to commit to a full-length movie, but still want to avoid a TV binge, since each episode is between 48 and 52 minutes long.

5. Nature Boom Time (2016)

Why It’s Worth Watching: energetic hosts, inspiring travel content, focus on the natural sciences

One of my favorites on the list is great for kids of all ages but has extra appeal for tweenagers—namely because it’s a travel docuseries led by a trio of young adult siblings with a passion for nature, science and adventure. The hosts are intelligent and enigmatic as they explore seriously cool natural attractions, which range from Petrified Forest National Park to Washington D.C.’s Cherry Blossom Festival. (I personally love watching this show with my kids because the hosts are so engaging and enthusiastic, and their curiosity about the world is contagious.)

6. Jim Henson Idea Man (2024)

Why It’s Worth Watching: inspiring, good for creative and artistic kids, behind-the-scenes glimpse at familiar on-screen characters

Jim Henson Idea Man takes a deep dive into the world of the legendary puppeteer and filmmaker. My kids watched this one with their dad, and the takeaway was this: “Tweens really get to see how much real work actually went on behind the magic, which is something that gets taken for granted a lot at that age. They also get to see the importance of Jim Henson’s persistence, creativity and vision, and how it paid off. Some of the musings on creativity and family life are definitely more geared towards an adult audience, but the story is just so fascinating.”

7. Woman in Motion (2019)

Why It’s Worth Watching: strong Black female lead, historic, inspiring themes about political advocacy

Woman in Motion is a documentary about the life and work of Nichelle Nichols, a Black American actress (of Star Trek fame) who became a volunteer spokesperson and recruiter for NASA after she criticized the organization's lack of diversity. She went on to recruit Sally Ride (the first woman in space) and Guion Bluford (the first African American in space) and tirelessly used her platform to advocate for social justice and equal opportunity. If you’re looking for an inspiring documentary with a trailblazing female hero, this one shouldn’t be missed.

8. Won’t You Be My Neighbor? (2018)

Why It’s Worth Watching: nostalgic, social-emotional learning, inspiring, positive themes about compassion

This one might not make as much sense if you haven’t already introduced your kid to the original Mr. Rogers’ episodes—but for those of us who have kept the oldies-but-goodies alive, this documentary is definitely worth a watch. And if your tween has no idea who Mr. Rogers is, watch it anyway; I wouldn’t be surprised if the legendary host could help your tween connect with their inner child. All in all, it’s a heartwarming biopic that features clips for the show, interviews with family and colleagues, and a thorough overview of a genuinely kind man’s mission to create wholesome content with only the best interests of children in mind. You can’t watch this and not feel inspired to put some good out into the world.

9. My Octopus Teacher (2020)

Why It’s Worth Watching: fascinating marine biology encounters, heartwarming story with just the right amount of excitement, beautiful visuals

I just watched this one with my family and although it started off a little slow in the beginning, it didn’t take long before both my kids were enthralled by the beautiful underwater imagery. As the narrative developed and the relationship between the diver and octopus started to unfold, there were lots of awws. Overall, it’s a fascinating glimpse into the world of marine biology and a truly touching story about the bond that can be formed between humans and sea creatures when their natural habitat is respected. Fair warning: you will want a pet octopus after watching this one.

10. Science Fair (2018)

Why It’s Worth Watching: STEM-oriented; positive messages about community, intellectual curiosity and perseverance

It’s hard to sell tweens on a documentary because many of them fail to deliver the excitement that they crave. Science Fair—a documentary about very gifted teens competing in the renowned International Science and Engineering Fair (ISEF)—is a refreshing exception. There’s a select, but diverse cast of competitors featured in the movie, all of whom share their own backstory, leaving the viewer highly invested in the outcome of the competition. The scenes range from poignant and inspiring to goofy and relatable. Plus, there’s ample educational value, all of which is delivered in a way that’s highly accessible to tweens. This one is likely to pique everyone’s interest in STEM.

11. The Social Dilemma (2020)

Why It’s Worth Watching: conversation starter, age-appropriate topic, promotes responsible use of technology with actionable suggestions

News to no one: technology access and screen usage are pretty hot topics in the parenting world—and for good reason, given the well-documented dangers of social media and AI. If, like me, you are increasingly consumed by anxiety about the kind of content your tween is interacting with (and perhaps fighting daily battles with your kid about it), you should definitely sit down and watch The Social Dilemma together. The documentary features interviews with the very people who helped design major social media platforms, all of whom concede that they built a business model designed to suck in consumers and peddle products, with little-to-no emphasis on delivering accurate or enriching content. Many other hazards of unfettered internet access are covered, too. Long story short, this doc isn’t exactly comforting, but it might help your tween see things from your perspective and proceed with caution.
