Amaro Spritz

amaro spritz recipe
Katherine Gillen

As refreshing as it is to sip on chilled rosé and Aperol spritzes, when the weather turns crisp, we want an autumnal cocktail to match. Enter this Amaro spritz. It’s like if Aperol put on its coziest sweater: just as quaffable, a little bit warm and as easy as 3-2-1—3 ounces prosecco, 2 ounces amaro, 1 ounce soda water.

Wait, what’s Amaro, exactly? It’s an Italian herbal liqueur that’s bittersweet and relatively low in alcohol. In fact, if you’ve ever sipped Aperol, you’ve already tried a type of Amaro. For this cocktail, we like something a little spicier and less sweet, like Nonino, Cynar or Lo-Fi.

Ingredients

Ice, as needed

2 ounces amaro (we used Lo-Fi)

3 ounces sparkling wine (such as prosecco)

1 ounce club soda

Orange slice, to garnish

Directions

1. Fill a glass with ice and add the amaro. Top with the sparkling wine and club soda; garnish with an orange slice.
