Anna Victoria Debunks Common Nutrition Myths on Her Latest Podcast

Between magazines, fitness influencers, celebrities and our own friends, we're constantly bombarded with information about what we should and shouldn't be eating to fuel our bodies. Nutrition and nutritional myths are the focus of this week's episode of ‘Your Best Life,’ a podcast hosted by Anna Victoria, the CEO and founder of the Fit Body app, that's produced by our parent company, Gallery Media Group.

In the episode, 'Nutrition Myths and Misconceptions,' Anna speaks with Alan Aragon. With more than 20 years of experience as a nutrition researcher and educator, Alan has designed programs for Olympic athletes and sports franchises like the Los Angeles Lakers, Los Angeles Kings and Anaheim Mighty Ducks.

During their conversation, the two set out to debunk nutrition myths using science, most notably the ideas that detoxing is necessary and juicing is an effective tool to lose weight. Alan also touches on the latest research on how much protein a person actually needs in a day, as well as diet trends like going into starvation mode (using techniques like intermittent fasting to promote weight loss), veganism and more. Notably, he doesn't support a diet devoid of animal byproducts, saying, "The mere reality that a vegan diet, in order to be optimal, must be supplemented with various micronutrients, various essential micronutrients, is immediate evidence that it's not optimal for human health."

In case you missed last week's episode, Anna chatted with Dr. Alejandro Junger, a cardiologist and New York Times Bestselling author of four books. Anna and Dr. Junger spoke a lot about the detoxification movement. Anna challenged Dr. Junger on the science of detoxing, and the two discussed the combination of western and functional medicine. It's a thought-provoking discourse that will surely have you looking at nutrition differently.

New episodes of 'Your Best Life' are available every Tuesday wherever your get your podcasts.
