‘Young Sheldon’ Is the Most Precocious and Precious Little Boy on Television
The Young Sheldon first-look trailer has arrived and we just want to gobble up its pint-size star, Iain Armitage.
Armitage, who you might recognize as rosy-cheeked Ziggy from HBO's Big Little Lies, plays the child version of Sheldon (Jim Parsons) in CBS's The Big Bang Theory prequel, Young Sheldon. The show tracks the precocious Sheldon from his humble East Texas beginnings to his position as senior theoretical physicist at Caltech. Spoiler alert: Model trains play an integral role.
In the spin-off comedy, genius nine-year-old Sheldon places into high school and finds out the hard way that not everyone shares his respect for dress codes and blunt honesty. He immediately makes enemies out of his teachers by questioning their credentials and his peers aren't eager to befriend him either. Despite his intellect (and remarkable attention to detail), the poor little Sheldon struggles to navigate the treacherous waters of public school and must learn to persevere.
Young Sheldon stars Zoe Perry as Sheldon's mother. Ironically, Perry's real life mother, Laurie Metcalf, plays Sheldon's mom on The Big Bang Theory. Lance Barber, Raegan Revord and Montana Jordan play the rest of the Connors in Young Sheldon, which will debut right after The Big Bang Theory on September 25 at 8:30p.m. E.T.
