Disney released the first trailer for its highly-anticipated adaptation of Madeleine L'Engle's novel A Wrinkle in Time, and, not surprisingly, the film looks absolutely dazzling.
The teaser opens with accomplished scientist Dr. Alex Murry (Chris Pine) delivering an address on time and space travel, and suddenly—snap!—We're transported to an entirely different universe. Under the singsong storytelling narration from the almighty Oprah, we learn Dr. Murry has been kidnapped, and his children, Meg (Storm Reid) and Charles Wallace (Deric McCabe), and their friend Calvin (Levi Miller) are the only ones who can save him. Then, a celestial being named Mrs. Which (Oprah Winfrey) tells Meg to “be a warrior” and, because no one says no to Oprah, Meg attempts to awaken her inner child warrior, along with the help of her brother and pal, to rescue her father and quite possibly save the entire world. Thankfully, they have some pretty fantastic galactic gal pals to help them along the way, Mrs. Whatsit (Reese Witherspoon) and Mrs. Who (Mindy Kaling).
The film, written by Jennifer Lee (who wrote and co-directed Frozen) and directed by Ava DuVernay (Selma), also stars Zach Galifianakis (The Happy Medium) and Gugu Mbatha-Raw (Dr. Kate Murry).
We were giddy when the first character photos were released last week, but now we've reached an entirely new universe of excitement. A Wrinkle in Time hits theaters March 9, 2018.
