Strap on your hiking boots and pack your backpack: The world’s longest hiking trail just opened in Canada, and it’s begging for a major trip.

Named the Great Trail and clocking in at 14,864 miles long, the pathway stretches from St. John’s on Canada’s east coast all the way to Victoria on the west. But get this: It’s actually composed of 400 individual trails that stretch across the country, and all forms of transportation are encouraged. (Break out your bike, kayak…snowmobile.)

The trail passes through several major cities, including Montreal, Toronto and Halifax, and snakes its way into remote subarctic territories. Bring your heaviest parka is what we’re saying.

The trail is being hailed as the largest volunteer project in Canadian history, and after 25 years in the making, we’re stunned at the monumental achievement. Cross-country hike, anyone?
