It's the year of Wonder Woman, ladies. Not only did the Patty Jenkins film break records with the highest opening weekend for a female director, but it's now also the highest-grossing domestic release from the DC Extended Universe. (Take that, Superman!)
For those unfamiliar with the DCEU (*slowly raises hand*), it refers to Man of Steel, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, Suicide Squad and other recent films interconnected within the DC world. The latest numbers show that Wonder Woman has surpassed all of the aforementioned superheroes as the most successful domestic DCEU film, earning nearly $350 million at the box office. And its $700-million international takeaway (thus far) puts it easily within reach of surpassing Batman v Superman soon. (Diana's $173 million away.)
How’s that for some girl power?
