Why a Nutritionist Says You Should Never Say ‘I’m Going on a Diet’

Keto, ketotarian, vegan, pegan. We can barely keep up with all of the diets swirling around the wellness space right now.

But according to Bryan Baia, Precision Nutrition coach, ACSM-certified personal trainer and coach at Athlete Training Club, the concept of “going on a diet” is flawed.

“A diet is not something you go on; it’s not Splash Mountain at Disney World. A diet is the combination of the things you are eating,” he told us.

Try to avoid labeling your eating patterns as a diet, and think of healthy eating as more of a long-term lifestyle choice than a temporary way to drop a few pounds. “A healthier, more sustainable way to think of it is, ‘I’m looking into cleaning up my diet,’”  Baia added.

Just remember, being your healthiest self is a marathon, not a sprint.
