It wouldn’t be a royal wedding without a little drama.
Such is the case for Meghan Markle, who will now be walking alone down the aisle at St. George’s Chapel, according to a new report from CNN. This is the first time in royal-wedding history that a bride will walk unaccompanied down the chapel nave during the procession…and all we can say is, YGG, Megs.
She will then be joined by Prince Charles, Harry and William’s dad (and Markle’s soon-to-be father-in-law), once she gets to the quire, where the main royal guests will be seated, Kensington Palace announced Friday in a statement, which reads: “The Prince of Wales is pleased to be able to welcome Ms. Markle to The Royal Family in this way.”
Sadly, Markle’s father, who was supposed to walk his daughter down the aisle during her wedding to Prince Harry, will not be able to attend the nuptials due to his health, Markle confirmed yesterday in a statement.
Markle’s decision to walk down the aisle into St. George’s Chapel alone (for at least the first part of her procession) is another example of how the untraditional bride is switching things up a bit, and we couldn’t be more excited for her.
And that’s one way to show off a gorgeous dress. (Smart girl, that one…)
