During the episode, the Man in Black undergoes several examinations in the psych ward, including a blood test. When the camera pans to the computer, the screen glitches before revealing that an anomalous protein exists in his bloodstream.
So, what does it mean? We’re not entirely sure, but if we’ve learned anything from past episodes, we wouldn’t be surprised if Serac is behind it.
First of all, the Man in Black already has a hard time deciphering reality from the simulations. So, for all we know, the Man in Black is actually a host that was specifically programmed by Serac to take down Dolores, which would explain the irregularity.
Speaking of, there has to be a good reason why Charlotte (aka Dolores) tricked the guards into taking the Man in Black to the psych ward. Over the past three seasons, Dolores has consistently eliminated threats that could potentially derail her plan, and the Man in Black appears to be one of them.
So, why is she treating him like an enemy versus a partner? We can only think of one reason, and it all points to the Man in Black having some sort of Delos code that Dolores is afraid of.
Regardless… We. Need. Answers. Westworld returns to HBO next Sunday, April 26.
