Tracee Ellis Ross Shared BTS Video from the ‘Black-ish’ Juneteenth Episode in Honor of Today's Holiday

ABC's hit series Black-ish has been a groundbreaking work that honors Black culture, and Tracee Ellis Ross highlighted one of the show's most impactful episodes in a recent Instagram post.

To celebrate Juneteenth (also known as Freedom Day, Jubilee Day or Emancipation Day), Ross pulled a behind-the-scenes clip from the show's season 4 premiere. The episode, which was simply titled "Juneteenth," follows Dre (Anthony Anderson) as he tries to write a catchy song that will bring attention to the holiday.

Ross shared the video with a caption that said, “WE BUILT THIS // behind the scenes of the @blackishabc #Juneteenth episode.”

The impact of the episode was clear in the comments, with one fan saying, “One of my fav episodes.” Another user commented, “As an English girl I literally first learnt about and heard of Juneteenth from this episode of Blackish!”

Along with the rare clip, Ross also shared an archived video in honor of Juneteenth, with a caption that said: “#Repost @mspackyetti...'the slow work of emancipation is a daily project.' - @museummammy. and you besta believe that Black Joy is part of the project. We make beauty out of ashes. And I remain unwilling to allow white supremacy to weaponize us out of our traditions. We made this day. Black Texans created this Jubilee & lent it to Black America. It is ours to own, from now until the end of time. Beautiful day. Beautiful Black people. Honoring US this beautiful Juneteenth. Can’t nobody stop it.”

We're very sad to know that the next season of Black-ish will be its last, but we will definitely be revisiting all of its classic episodes for many years to come.
