Maverick’s Back! Tom Cruise Is Reprising His Iconic 1987 Role in a ‘Top Gun’ Sequel
Game on! Grab the dog tags, acid wash jeans, Ray Ban aviators and boom box loaded with a Kenny Loggins cassette, because Tom Cruise just confirmed that he’s hopping back into the pilot's seat for a Top Gun sequel.
The 54-year-old actor broke the exciting news yesterday in an interview with the Australian morning show Sunrise. Cruise was jazzed (not in an Oprah couch-jumping-incident way, don't worry) to finally spill the beans about the classic film’s sequel...30 years later. He told Sunrise’s host, "It's true, yeah it's true. You know what? I'm going to start filming it probably in the next year. I know, it's happening. It is definitely happening."
Jerry Bruckheimer, the producer of the original 1987 film, says the sequel will uncover what Maverick has been up to since he heroically saved Iceman and heartbreakingly said goodbye to best bro Goose.
We feel the need...to get our hands on Tom Cruise's speedy anti-aging serum.
