We’re seeing stars with this casting announcement, y’all.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Anne Hathaway and Tina Fey have signed on to Amazon’s upcoming anthology series Modern Love. The two join a star-studded cast that includes Dev Patel (Slumdog Millionaire), John Slattery (Mad Men), Brandon Victor Dixon (Jesus Christ Superstar), Catherine Keener (Get Out) and Julia Garner (Ozark), among others. Emmy Rossum (Shameless), Sharon Horgan (Catastrophe) and Tom Hall (Sensation) are all slated to direct.
The eight-episode, half-hour comedy anthology will be based on The New York Times column and podcast of the same name and “will explore love in its multitude of forms, including sexual, romantic, familial, platonic and self-love,” per THR.
“It’s like I woke up in the actor candy store. We’ve managed to assemble a dream cast of my favorite actors,” showrunner John Carney said in a statement (and, um, SAME). “It’s a testament to the reach of the original column and of how, now more than ever, love is the only certainty.”
