After watching all ten seasons of Friends far too many times, it’s hard to picture anyone but the original cast playing the main characters. So, naturally, we were shook when we learned that Jennifer Aniston’s iconic role (Rachel Green) almost went to another actress.
Saved By the Bell alum Tiffani Thiessen recently revealed that she not only auditioned for the popular ’90s sitcom, but she also made it to the final round of casting.
During a radio interview on Nikki Glaser’s SiriusXM show, the actress dished on her experience, saying, “Did you know I tested for Friends, for Jennifer Aniston? I was just a little too young. I was a little too young to the pairing of the rest of them.”
Friends premiered in 1994 and told the story of six friends—Rachel (Aniston), Phoebe (Lisa Kudrow), Monica (Courteney Cox), Ross (David Schwimmer), Joey (Matt LeBlanc) and Chandler (Matthew Perry)—living in NYC.
Although Thiessen called Aniston “very, very funny,” we can’t help but feel like she was saved by the bell First Ladies star. (Sorry, had to.)
