The Cast Is Set For HBO’s ‘The Plot Against America’ (and Guys, It's Good)

The lead cast is set for HBO's upcoming miniseries, The Plot Against America, and you guys, it's good.

Winona Ryder, Zoe Kazan, John Turturro will be joined by Morgan Spector (Homeland), Anthony Boyle (Harry Potter and the Cursed Child) and more.

Based on the 2004 book by Philip RothThe Plot Against America was written and executive produced by David Simon and Ed Burns (who've collaborated on The Corner and The Wire).

The series will present an alternative history in which Franklin D. Roosevelt is defeated in the 1940 presidential election by Charles Lindbergh. The story follows the Roth family in New Jersey during the Lindbergh presidency, as antisemitism becomes more accepted and Jewish-American families like theirs are persecuted.

According to Deadline, Kazan will play Bess Levin, an insightful mother and homemaker, who fears for the future as she tries to protect her family from the escalating political climate and plan an escape from the forces that seem to be threatening her world. Ryder will play Evelyn Finkel, Bess's older sister who is hungry to find her own place in life. Turturro will portray Lionel Bengelsdorf, a conservative rabbi who becomes a key figure in the emergent Lindbergh administration.

No word yet on a premiere date, but production began April 10. We can't wait.
