Elmo Is Getting His Own Talk Show & Not-So-Late-Night Television Just Got Way More Fun

Move over, Jimmy Kimmel. There’s a new late-night talk show host in town and he came all the way from Sesame Street.

That’s right. Elmo is coming to the small screen (HBO Max to be exact) in the form of his own talk show called The Not-Too-Late Show with Elmo. News broke Thursday that Sesame Workshop is currently developing the program starring the red, furry puppet, in which he will interview celebrities.

And from the looks of the trailer, it seems Elmo is welcoming some high profile guests, such as Jimmy Fallon, The Jonas Brothers and Blake Lively. Not to mention, the rest of the Sesame Street gang looks to be involved in some form or another (we see you, Cookie Monster).

The new show comes as part of a deal between HBO and Sesame Workshop, which also includes five new seasons of the hit children’s show set to begin next year.

The show will premiere with HBO Max’s launch on May 27, however, no word yet on how frequently episodes will air. And if that’s still not enough Elmo for you and your fam, the streaming service with also include Sesame Street episodes from the past 50 years.

We don’t know about you, but the fact that we don’t have to stay up late to watch a late-night show (“because Elmo’s bedtime is 7:30”) is something we couldn’t be happier about.
