The Original Cast of ‘The Nanny’ Is Reuniting for a Virtual Table Read (Yes, Even Fran Drescher)

During these uncertain times of social distancing, Fran Drescher just gave us something to look forward to—a The Nanny reunion.

According to a Variety exclusive, Nanny Fine (Drescher) and the rest of the gang are coming together on April 6 for a virtual table read of the pilot episode on Zoom. Yup, and the entire interaction will be posted on the Sony Pictures YouTube page the following Monday morning.

“Laughter is the best medicine! So, in these challenging times, Peter [the show’s co-creator], and I thought, wouldn’t it be great if we pulled together the original cast of ‘The Nanny’ for a virtual read of the pilot?” said Drescher in a statement. “It’s a once in a lifetime Pandemic Performance for our fans around the world who are currently stressing in isolation and could use a real upper! It sure has given each of us a lift and we hope it does for you as well.” Well, this is definitely a first.

The 62-year-old actress teased the project last week on Twitter, leading many fans to speculate that the hit ’90s show was either going to become available to stream online or that some kind of reboot was in the works.

“Awe hang in! We got a surprise for you! Announcement this week! Stay tuned! Weeeee!!!” Drescher wrote in a tweet. Now we know the truth, thanks to Variety.

Per the outlet, the following stars will return to read their roles: Charles Shaughnessy, Daniel Davis, Lauren Lane, Nicholle Tom, Benjamin Salisbury, Madeline Zima, Renee Taylor, Alex Sternin, Ann Hampton Callaway, DeeDee Rescher, Rachel Chagall and Jonathan Penner.

We never thought we’d say this, but we’re actually excited for Monday.
