So...Sylvester Stallone Is Guest Starring on ‘This Is Us’ & We Still Need a Few to Mull It Over

Rocky, Rambo and now...This Is Us? Sylvester Stallone, action star extraordinaire, is making a cameo in season two of This Is Us, and we're not sure how we feel about it.

This Is Us creator Dan Fogelman announced during a panel at the Television Critics Association Summer Press Tour yesterday that the Italian Stallion actor will guest star in the beloved show’s upcoming season. Playing himself, Stallone will be Kevin’s (Justin Hartley) costar in the Ron Howard war film he landed in the season one finale. The Creed star will act as a “father figure” to Kevin and help him navigate the treacherous waters of acting and aging. Stay beautiful, you two.

How did this peculiar cameo come to be and why Sly, instead of, say, us? Well, Milo Ventimiglia, who plays Pearson dilf patriarch Jack, once upon a time played Stallone’s son in the 2006 film Rocky Balboa aka Rocky 80. (JK, Rocky VI, but it felt like 80, amirite?) So when Fogelman and NBC mentioned they were looking for a big name guest star—obvs metaphorically and physically—Ventimiglia was all, “I got this,” and the rest is history.

We have mixed emotions about Sly disrupting the Pearson family's perfectly lovable and attractive dynamic, but at least we know our treasured William will be back to make everything smooth like jazz.
