While some interpreted it as a reference to the sixth episode in season three (originally titled "The Birthday"), others figured it was a nod to the show's birthday, AKA the day season one premiered.
One Reddit user wrote, "[It] could be related to the show's anniversary. So season four releases on July 15."
If you recall, the series was first introduced in July of 2016. And it's worth noting that Stranger Things 3 also dropped in the month of July in 2019. So it could be that fans are really on to something here.
In February of 2020, show creators Matt and Ross Duffer revealed in a statement that David Harbour's storyline will continue throughout season four. Although it’s not all good news for our ‘American’; he is imprisoned far from home in the snowy wasteland of Kamchatka, where he will face dangers both human… and other."
They continued, "Meanwhile, back in the states, a new horror is beginning to surface, something long buried, something that connects everything… Season 4 is shaping up to be the biggest and most frightening season yet."
If it turns out that fans are right about season four, we're gonna need July to get here ASAP.
