The photo caught our attention, since royals aren’t supposed to take photos with the general public. Although the rule isn’t strictly enforced, the news might surprise some people, since we rarely see royals taking selfies. The general rule is for them to politely decline offers, so they can focus on their duties sans distraction.
However, it’s sometimes easier for royals to break protocol and smile for a photo—like Sophie, who probably didn’t want to seem rude when the hard-working staff members surrounded her.
This isn’t the first time we’ve seen a royal selfie. Back in 2014, Prince William took a photo with a schoolgirl on Christmas Day at Sandringham. Prince Harry also posed for a young fan’s selfie once upon a time, so Sophie is off the hook. (In our book, at least.)
During the outing, the Countess of Wessex wore a blue satin midi skirt and a terracotta-colored blouse. She styled her hair in a ponytail and accessorized the look with a gold necklace, stud earrings and nude ballet pumps.
New life goal: Get a royal to pose for a selfie.
