We love sleep. Rather, we love the elusive, mythical full eight hours of sleep that we don’t get. But hey, a girl can dream (get it?). And we’d do almost anything for shut-eye—including sleep with a robot. Hey now, hear us out.
The Somnox Sleep Robot is the world’s first sleep robot (according to the company). It’s been under development since 2015...and it sounds pretty damn fascinating.
Here’s how it works: As the bean-shaped pillow “breathes,” you subconsciously match your own breathing pattern to its slow, even rhythm, which eventually lulls you to sleep. It’s based on breathing techniques that are meant to calm and relax even the most restless insomniacs.
The pillow can also play pretty much any sleep-inducing sound you want, including lullabies, white noise, heartbeats or a really boring audiobook. And if the thought of spooning a robot creeps you out, well, just call it a smart pillow instead.
You can preorder the Somnox for an estimated October 2018 delivery, but know that it rings in at a cool $549. Get ready to dream in binary (01111010 01111010 01111010).
