Welcome to the future: Sliced ketchup is a thing that exists. Yep, we’re 100 percent serious.
Straight out of Brooklyn, New York (of course), it’s called Slice of Sauce and it’s exactly what it sounds like: ketchup packaged like slices of American cheese.
Surprisingly, the alt-condiment is made from pretty normal ingredients (i.e., tomatoes, vinegar, sugar and spices) but dehydrated into thin slices. (It looks a lot like fruit leather.) It’s also shelf stable and will last up to a year sans refrigeration. Cool, or creepy?
You can preorder Slice of Sauce on Kickstarter for an estimated June delivery, if you’re so inclined.
To be honest, if it eliminates the possibility of that gross, watery first squeeze of ketchup, we’re interested...because God forbid our burger bun gets soggy.
