Leading Black Women Are Taking Over the Instagram Accounts of Celebs on June 10 (Including Gwyneth Paltrow's & Julia Roberts')

Gwyneth Paltrow, Julia Roberts and more celebrities are handing over the keys passwords to their Instagram accounts.

It's part of #ShareTheMicNow, a new social media campaign launching June 10. The goal is to create a lasting social media feature that magnifies the lives and stories of Black women, and to build relationships between women of all colors to fuel future activism.

How will it work? Starting tomorrow, a number of prominent Black women (including friend of PureWow Latham Thomas, #MeToo founder Tarana Burke, Teen Vogue Editor-in-Chief Lindsay Peoples Wagner and Endeavor Chief Marketing Officer Bozoma Saint John, one of the #ShareTheMicNow founders) will take over the Instagram accounts of prominent white women including Paltrow, Roberts, soccer player Megan Rapinoe and Arianna Huffington. (See the Instagram slideshow above to see who is taking over whose account.)

Event planners, including Saint John, authors Glennon Doyle and Luvvie Ajayi Jones and Alice + Olivia designer Stacey Bendet shared the campaign's mission in a press release: "When the world listens to women, it listens to white women. For too long, the voices of Black women have not been heard, even though they have been using their voices in voice High for centuries to bring about change. Today, more than ever, it is NECESSARY that we create unifying action to center Black women's lives, stories, and calls to action. We need to listen to Black women."

Follow along on Instagram with the hashtag #ShareTheMicNow—we know we will be.
