The Selena Gomez Fashion ‘Faux Pas’ Everyone Is Talking About

Selena Gomez made a minor fashion faux pas during her latest public appearance—but we’re definitely not mad about it.

Last night, the 29-year-old actress attended the SAG Awards and wore a stunning black velvet dress by Oscar de la Renta, which featured dramatic sleeves. She accessorized the look with jewelry by Bulgari and high heels by Christian Louboutin.

When she arrived, Gomez accidentally tripped on the red grey carpet. (Certainly nothing to be ashamed of—accidents happen.) She laughed at herself before removing her heels and proceeding down the carpet…wait for it…barefoot.

But she didn’t stop there. During the ceremony, Gomez committed what some might consider a fashion faux pas by going barefoot while presenting the SAG Award for Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor for a Supporting Role.

Again, the camera angle didn’t show her shoes (or lack thereof) after she had walked on stage. But her bare feet didn’t go unnoticed. “Selena going barefoot in front of some of the biggest celebrities is actually the most Selena Gomez thing she could do #SAGAwards,” one person wrote on Twitter (according to Us Weekly).

It’s important to note that Gomez wasn’t the only celebrity who took off her heels. In fact, the actress was spotted chatting with Nicole Kidman, who was also barefoot. (This might be the fastest a faux pas has turned into a trend ever…)

Gomez’s attendance at the SAG Awards marked a momentous occasion for her career. Earlier this year, she earned her first-ever nomination for Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Comedy Series alongside the cast of Only Murders in the Building. Although the statuette went to Ted Lasso, it’s still a noteworthy achievement.

We stand with you (and your bare feet), Selena.
