Yada Yada Yayyy: Netflix Just Got the Streaming Rights to ‘Seinfeld’

seinfeld

Netflix may be losing two of our fave NBC comedies (so long Rachel Green and Michael Scott), but things seem to be looking up once again for the streaming service.

Netflix just struck a five-year deal with Sony to stream Seinfeld. The platform will offer all 9 seasons (180 episodes) starting in 2021. Los Angeles Times reported Netflix will have global streaming rights, a deal different from Hulu's domestic-only rights and Amazon's foreign territory rights.

Seinfeld was one of the most popular shows in the '90s right up until their last episode in '98 (which was one of the most watched of all time). The timing comes after Netflix lost streaming rights to Friends and The Officewhich are both headed to other platforms in 2021.

It'll also join the ranks of other Jerry Seinfeld works on Netflix like his short series Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee and his stand-up special Jerry Before Seinfeld.
