Paulson worked with celebrity stylist Karla Welch to select what Welch called on her personal Instagram account, a “gothic, puffed sleeve Gucci number,” for the evening. The spooky black gown featured wide puff sleeves with a crystal appliqué at the cuff. The floor-length dress also featured pockets (!) and an embellished neck and called to mind both AHS: Coven and the nuns of AHS: Asylum. Props to her for being very on-brand.
She completed the look with a black velvet clutch and Guiseppe Zanotti heels with an extra embellishment at the toe.
If you, too, want to look like a high-fashion Morticia Addams, we’re sorry to say Paulson’s Gucci gown isn’t available yet. However, you can create the same Halloween-ready vibe with the J.Crew puff-sleeve wool sheath dress (on sale for $228 $260), the Badgley Mischka Collection boat-neck puff-sleeve A-line mini cocktail dress (on sale for $459 $347) or the Rotate Birger Christensen velvet puff-sleeve minidress with buttons ($420).
Paulson offset the volume of her sleeves by wearing a sleek, slicked back bob courtesy of celeb hairstylist Lona Vigi. She kept in line with the Goth feel of her whole ensemble with oxblood lipstick and a smoky eye created by makeup artist Adam Breuchaud.
Suffice it to say, Paulson bewitched the AHS red carpet.
