Sarah Jessica Parker just shared rare photos of her son, James Broderick, on social media, and we suddenly feel extremely old.
Yesterday, the Sex and the City alum, 55, posted a slideshow on her personal Instagram account, featuring a series of never-before-seen photos in honor of James’s 18th (!) birthday.
The slideshow features five photos, beginning with a candid snap of the mother-son duo playing in the family’s kitchen. It’s followed by solo shots of James over the years, featuring him wearing a snow outfit, running through the grass, holding hands with SJP and jumping from bed to bed in a hotel room. (We’ve all been there.)
The caption (which doubled as a poem slash love letter to James) read: “October 28th, 2020 My beloved son, James Wilkie. On this day, you are 18 years old. I marvel at the passing of those years but equally the young man you are becoming. My love for you is an ache and an honor. As you leap toward and into your future, I remain your privileged and steadfast confident and joyful witness to the year ahead. Happy birthday my first time voter. I love you so. X, Mama.”
Parker and her husband, Matthew Broderick (Ferris Bueller’s Day Off), tied the knot back in 1997. The couple invited their closest friends and family to what they thought was a party in New York City—but in reality, it was a surprise wedding. In addition to James, they share two daughters together: twins Marion (11) and Tabitha (11).
