Sandra Oh is one of those celebrities who can do no wrong in our eyes. She's talented, funny and down-to-earth. It makes sense, then, that she earned a spot on Time's list of The 100 Most Influential People of 2019. Last night in New York City, she sashayed into the Time 100 gala looking out-of-this-world great.
Sandra Oh’s ‘Time’ 100 Gala Dress Features One of Spring’s Hottest Trends
Her elegant black Oscar de la Renta dress featured a single strap with silver crystals and white feathers (plumage is trending big time right now). She paired the gown with a coordinating Jimmy Choo clutch, Brumani earrings and pared-down hair and makeup.
In her Time 100 bio, Shonda Rhimes had this to say about the actress: "One of the greatest gifts of my creative life has been the opportunity to write words to be spoken by Sandra Oh. The reason is simple: Sandra Oh is a virtuoso. She treats dialogue like notes of music—every word must be played, every syllable correctly toned. She’s always been an extraordinary actor. Her body of work makes that clear."
Rhimes added, "Her comic timing is priceless. Her dramatic well is endless. Her talent is a song to be heard. With her nuanced characters, Sandra Oh has chosen to fearlessly take up space in a universe that has not always made space for her. Now, the power of her talented presence makes space for others. And that is a gift to every artist of color who follows in her footsteps."
After making jaws drop on the red carpet, Oh gave a toast during the event. "It’s a good time to be making art," she said. "It’s an important time to be making art. I truly believe art evolves our hearts and our minds because it allows us to experience and understand another’s sorrow. It reminds us of universal truths. It connects us. Art can transform us and through us, our culture."
