A Kinda Terrifying ‘Sabrina the Teenage Witch’ Reboot Is Coming to a TV Near You
Magical powers? Check. Teenage hijinks? Check. A dark twist? Triple check.
Archie Comics announced on Twitter that a Sabrina the Teenage Witch reboot is coming to The CW. But a warning: It might be a little, um, darker than that sitcom starring Melissa Joan Hart. Titled The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina, the tone of the show will apparently fall somewhere between Rosemary’s Baby and The Exorcist. (Whoa.)
The comic conglomerate announced this magical news with a photo from the 2014 Archie comic-book series of the same name with the caption, “The #Riverdale team is bringing ‘The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina’ to @TheCW!”
The new series comes from the creepy-crawly mind of The CW’s Riverdale developer Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa, who created the comic-book series and will write and produce the new reboot. According to the network, the series will reimagine “the origin and adventures of Sabrina the Teenage Witch as a dark coming-of-age story that traffics in horror, the occult and, of course, witchcraft.”
So basically, we don’t think there will be any talking cat puppets in this one. Darn.
