Royal News Roundup: 2 Secret Weddings, New Prince George Pics & a Surprising Lawsuit

HERE, ALL THE ROYAL NEWS YOU NEED TO KNOW FOR THE WEEK OF JULY 24, 2020.

  • Last week, Princess Beatrice and Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi surprised us all by quietly tying the knot in an intimate ceremony. Buckingham Palace broke the news in a statement Friday, "The private wedding ceremony of Princess Beatrice and Mr. Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi took place at 11 a.m. on Friday 17th July at The Royal Chapel of All Saints at Royal Lodge, Windsor.” Luckily, we didn’t have to wait long for wedding photos.
  • Right after attending her granddaughter’s nuptials, Queen Elizabeth conducted a knighthood ceremony for Tom Moore, a 100-year-old captain who has raised over $40 million for the U.K.'s National Health Service. The event marked the first up-close and in-person engagement for the monarch since the lockdown began in March.
  • On the same day, Camilla Parker Bowles celebrated her 73rd birthday! The royal residence’s official Instagram account celebrated the Duchess of Cornwall’s big day by sharing a series of never-before-seen pictures that were taken during lockdown.

  • Beatrice’s wasn’t the only royal wedding this week. Eleonore von Habsburg (the Austrian Archduchess) tied the knot with her beau, professional race car driver Jérôme d'Ambrosio, on Monday. The couple exchanged vows in a civil ceremony in Monaco, which was attended by their closest friends and family.
  • Earlier this week, James Middleton gave followers a rare glimpse into the childhood home he shared with his sisters Kate and Pippa. In the clip, we see two of his fur babies, including his latest addition, an adorable pooch named Nala, running in the outdoor space.
  • The Duke and Duchess of Cornwall started on their annual trip to Devon and Cornwall this week. The royal family announced the mini tour on Monday.
  • Prince Harry fired back at critics who alleged that he had inappropriately used $350,000 by donating it to his eco-tourism venture Travalyst. “The Duke of Sussex has always and continues to remain deeply committed to his charitable work,” his reps wrote in a rare personal statement.
  • Prince George celebrated his 7th birthday on Tuesday. In honor of the milestone, Kensington Palace released two new photos of the young royal. According to an official social media post, the sweet snaps were (not surprisingly) taken by his mother, Kate Middleton, earlier this month.
  • Earlier this week, Prince Charles and Camilla Parker Bowles made a tweak to their official Twitter account. While the page used to say “Clarence House,” it now reads “The Prince of Wales and the Duchess of Cornwall.” The move comes shortly after Prince William and Kate Middleton made a similar change.

  • The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are taking legal action in regards to photos taken of their son while the family was in their Los Angeles home. In a new lawsuit filed on Thursday, the couple is alleging “serial intrusions” into 14-month-old Archie's privacy by unnamed paparazzi with the intention to sell the photographs to various tabloids.

  • Kate Middleton and Prince William announced that the Royal Foundation has granted a massive donation to benefit the U.K.’s frontline workers and help support the mental health of the nation's citizens. The funding has been set up as part of the organization’s response to the current coronavirus pandemic.
