Hi, we’re PureWow and we love the royal family. Some might say it’s an unhealthy obsession. But we’re totally not alone, right? You stalk love them too.
Did you know there’s actually a scientific reason why? It all comes down to one thing: structure.
According to clinical psychologist Dr. Donna Rockwell, Psy.D., the royal traditions and pattern-like protocol offer a sense of structure and peace in a world that, at its best, feels chaotic (and at its worst feels like a dumpster fire).
She told Glamour, “It’s comforting to see a structure [that creates] a semblance of order. In the same way…when an adult is feeling a sense of inner chaos, it’s comforting, even neurologically speaking, to be able to observe something of structure. We see structure, and we feel comforted. So it’s actually a neurological response of relaxation that occurs in us in seeing the [royal family].”
So what we’re saying is…catching up on Harry and Meghan’s new puppy is basically therapy. Carry on.
