This Prince Philip Instagram Post Seems Like a Pretty Final Farewell from the Royal Family

It’s been an emotional few weeks for members of the British royal family as they have been mourning the death of Prince Philip, who passed away last Friday at the age of 99.

On Saturday, the world watched as Queen Elizabeth, Prince William, Prince Harry, Prince Charles, Kate Middleton and more said their final goodbyes to Duke of Edinburgh during a small ceremonial funeral where he was laid to rest at St. George's Chapel at Windsor Castle. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, the guest list was limited to thirty special attendees.

Following the ceremony, it seems like Her Majesty and the rest of the fam gave a final social media send-off. On Sunday, the official Royal Family IG shared a photo of the late duke raising his hat. “In loving memory of His Royal Highness The Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh,” the post’s caption read. “1921-2021.”

Fans and followers used the post to share their final goodbye messages to Philip. In fact, the post raked in over 20,000 comments and almost two million likes. One user wrote, “Thank you sir .. you will forever live in the hearts and memories of the people you spent your amazing life serving,” while another added, “What an amazingly beautiful post. Thank you for your service, Prince Philip. Rest in Peace.”

The post is only one of a handful shared by members of his family throughout the last ten days. However, the special image and the candid caption made this one seem like it might be the final goodbye message on social media.

Rest in peace, Philip.
