Hot off her highly anticipated Super Bowl halftime performance, the 34-year-old singer will return to the stage on March 12, performing her Black Panther: Wakanda Forever song, “Lift Me Up,” at this year’s Oscars ceremony.
The single, from last summer’s Marvel blockbuster, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, is nominated for best original song. It’s also Rihanna’s first Oscar nomination ever. She shares the category with Lady Gaga (“Hold My Hand” from Top Gun: Maverick); Son Lux featuring Mistki and David Byrne (“This Is a Life” from Everything Everywhere All at Once); Rahul Sipligunj, Kaala Bhairava and M.M. Keeravani (“Naatu Naatu” from RRR) and Sofia Carson (“Applause” from Tell It like a Woman).
While she didn’t perform “Lift Me Up” during her 13-minute Super Bowl medley, we might not have noticed what with her surprise announcement of pregnancy no. 2. The Barbadian singer used her sky-high platform to reveal she’s expecting her second child with A$AP Rocky.
Sure, it’s been over seven years since the singer released her eighth studio album, Anti—and we may have more time to wait still—but another top-notch performance from Bad Gal RiRi will hold us over a little longer.
