Rihanna Teases Her Return to Music with New Surprise Single…So When Is the Album Coming?

The wait is over: Riri is making her big comeback on the music scene. It’s been six years (yes s-i-x) since the singer released her last album “Anti.” But with the release of a surprise new song this week, many fans are starting to wonder if a new album could be on the way. But is it too soon to start hoping?

The “Work” singer shared a snippet of her new single “Lift Me Up” on her Instagram page on Wednesday. The song is slated to be featured on the soundtrack for Marvel’s upcoming Black Panther: Wakanda Forever (which is only a few short weeks from release, btw).

The banner in Rihanna’s IG post featured a silver “R” in front of a black backdrop, while the singer can be heard humming the song. The caption read, “Lift me up. 10.28.22.”

Fans immediately rushed to the comments section and shared their excitement for the new song. One person wrote, “The moment the worlds been waiting for,” with a fire emoji. Another chimed in and said, “Ok ITS HAPPENING!!! [shocked face emoji] Everybody stay calm!!!!”

Rihanna’s involvement in the Wakanda soundtrack has been rumored for weeks, with the film posting a cryptic message on social media showcasing the movie poster and the “R” in “Forever” having the spotlight.

Rihanna’s new single is the first song she has released since “Anti.” Now that she has finally made her grand return with a single, could an album be next? The Fenty Beauty founder has been teasing an album for years.

So, the fact that she is releasing this single has surprised everyone (especially her loyal fanbase). It might be too soon to see an album release in the near future—since the new song is going to be a part of the Marvel movie soundtrack (and not from an upcoming project of her own). For now, we’ll just have to wait and see.

Keeping our fingers crossed for more big Riri news soon. (One can hope, right?)
