Set in 1968, 30 years after Garland played Dorothy in The Wizard of Oz, Judy centers on the legendary actress and singer’s final concert series in London, her strained relationship with her family and dark memories of her childhood that continue to plague her. The film will feature some of Garland’s greatest hits—including, of course, “Over the Rainbow.” Zellweger, who showed off her singing chops in the 2002 movie Chicago, is expected to lend her angelic voice to the film, which started filming today.
Award-winning director Super Gold (King Charles III) will helm the film and Tom Edge (The Crown) penned the script.
There’s no word yet on when Judy will be released. Until then, don’t mind us...we’ll just be over here on the couch, watching The Wizard of Oz and Chicago on an endless loop.
