Reese Witherspoon honored the 15th anniversary of Sweet Home Alabama by revealing her most memorable moment, favorite line and how the film inspired her Draper James empire. (Wait, it’s how old? Damn.)
In an interview published on the Draper James blog, Witherspoon opened up about the iconic film and her favorite memory from the set. She said, “I loved shooting in rural Georgia...the people and the food brought me right back to my Southern roots.”
Witherspoon was born and raised in Tennessee, so she (understandably) felt right at home while shooting the film. The walk down memory lane even inspired the actress to launch her Southern-inspired clothing line, Draper James. She continued, “Being in Sweet Home Alabama was a huge turning point in my life. It was when the world realized that I was a Southern girl through and through, and that I was proud of where I came from.”
As for Witherspoon’s favorite quote: “My favorite line is ‘You have a baby...in a bar!’” Ours too, Reese. Ours too.
Long live Melanie Carmichael Smooter.
