Young Boy Receives a Special Letter from the Queen After Sending Her a ‘Happiness’ Word Search

A 7-year-old boy just received a personalized letter from Queen Elizabeth after sending a creative gift to the 94-year-old monarch.

Meet Timothy Madders, a young boy who lives in Essex, England. During lockdown, he created a “happiness word search” that contained hidden phrases like “smile,” “sunshine” and “family.” In an attempt to brighten her day, Madders mailed a copy to the queen, along with a note that read:

“Dear Queen Elizabeth, you might be feeling sad or lonely during lockdown, so I thought I could make a word search for you to cheer you up. Love from Timothy Madders.”

A few weeks later, Madders received a special letter from Philippa de Pass, one of the queen’s ladies in waiting. “The Queen wishes me to write and thank you for your kind letter, and for the puzzle you have created especially for Her Majesty,” she wrote, according to Hello! magazine.

Pass continued, “Your thoughtfulness is greatly appreciated, and The Queen hopes that you too are keeping safe and well in the current situation. I am to thank you very much indeed for writing as you did at this time.”

We’ve seen very little of Queen Elizabeth over the past few months. It’s mainly due to the coronavirus pandemic, which forced the royal family into self-isolation at various residences. While the monarch is currently staying at Windsor Castle (not Buckingham), she’s expected to be airlifted via helicopter to Balmoral Castle, which is where she typically spends her summer break.

Now all we need is to brainstorm a creative way to get the queen’s attention…even if it’s in the form of a second-hand letter.
