While Kate Middleton and Prince William are kicking off their five-day tour of Pakistan, another set of royals are expanding relationships abroad in an unexpected way.
Queen Maxima and King Willem-Alexander of the Netherlands attended an official wreath-laying ceremony at the Ghandi Monument today in New Delhi, India, and went shoe-less for the event.
It’s not yet clear why exactly the royal couple donned their sock feet, but it’s safe to assume it was a sign of respect for the holy ground of Ghandi’s monument, especially since others walking with the king and queen also only wore socks.
