Queen Maxima Went Shoe-less at a Royal Event Today & Yes, You Read That Right

While there, King Willem-Alexander, 52, and Queen Maxima, 48, laid a beautiful floral wreath at the Samadhi of Mahatma Gandhi and paid an additional tribute to the iconic political ethicist’s monument by sprinkling handfuls of vibrant pink flower petals over his memorial.

Queen Maxima wore a stunning blue-gray lace one-shoulder shift dress and matching hat for the occasion with jewel drop earrings, nude gloves and matching nude pointed-toe heels. Her socks, we might add, were also nude. Now that’s coordination.

This marks the couple’s first visit to the country since King Willem-Alexander’s ascension to the throne in 2013. Their trip is intended to further fortify the already strong Indo-Dutch strategic partnerships and will reportedly focus on things like water technology, sustainable agriculture, health care, maritime development and cultural and social initiatives. Interestingly, the Netherlands is the fifth largest investor in the country of India itself, having made a cumulative investment of $23 billion between 2000 and 2017.
