Royal Fans Can’t Get Over Queen Máxima's Bare Feet on Her Latest Video Call

Now that Zoom has become a regular form of communication, we’re starting to pick up on a few tricks, like only dressing from the waist-up (judge us). As it turns out, we’re not the only ones who are cheating the system.

Take Queen Máxima of the Netherlands, for example. The 49-year-old monarch recently ditched her heels during a virtual visit to Senegal in honor of her role as a UN special advocate. The queen’s bare feet weren’t visible to the public—that is, until the royal family’s official Instagram account posted several behind-the-scenes photos, which confirmed our suspicions.

The slideshow features several shots that were taken during the video call. In the second photo, Queen Máxima is outstretching her legs underneath the desk. Upon closer inspection, it’s clear the royal isn’t wearing any shoes.

Although we don’t blame her for kicking back and relaxing, it’s rare to see members of the royal family without any sort of footwear. Not to mention, the wardrobe choice didn’t go unnoticed.

Fans flooded the comments section with messages about Queen Máxima’s bare feet. One person wrote, “Look at her bare feet!” Another described the rarity of the situation: “We have not yet been able to catch Máxima wearing sweatpants with stains, but apparently she is Zooming without shoes now.”

Guess there really is a first for everything.
