Queen Elizabeth II Stuns in Red, While Sporting a Special Brooch to Honor Prince Philip

Queen Elizabeth II may be returning to her royal engagements, but she'll be keeping Prince Philip close to her heart while she does it.

Her Majesty recently visited the Portsmouth Historic Dockyard to bid adieu to the crew of the HMS Queen Elizabeth. During her trip, the queen wore a bright red suit, featuring a black collar and buttons, as well as a Rachel Trevor-Morgan hat. However, the item in her ensemble that caught everyone's attention was the brooch pinned to her jacket.

The queen's choice of adornment was a sentimental one, given the fact that the brooch was gifted to her by Prince Philip back in 1966. The gold Scarab Brooch features diamond and ruby embellishments and it was designed by Andrew Grima (aka 'The Father of Modern Jewelry').

Queen Elizabeth's tribute to her late husband was seen in a post on the royal family Instagram account, where they said, “Her Majesty The Queen visits the company of HMS Queen Elizabeth in Portsmouth to bid them farewell ahead of the ship’s maiden operational deployment. The Queen is the Sponsor of HMS Queen Elizabeth, one of the two largest warships ever built by @RoyalNavy.”

During her 73 years of marriage to the Duke of Edinburgh, Queen Elizabeth often bore the special pin. According to The Daily Mail, she was first seen wearing it at an appearance near Bournemouth Town Hall in 1966. The brooch soon became a staple of the queen's wardrobe, and she even sported it for her 70th wedding anniversary portrait in 2017.

It makes sense that Her Majesty chose to wear the meaningful piece of jewelry so close to Prince Philip's passing. While her official period of mourning is over, the queen is still using this time to remember her longtime love.
