The queen made her royal fashion decree while visiting the new Smith Center of the Science Museum in London to announce the new “Top Secret: From Ciphers to Cyber Security” exhibit, which explores Britain’s relationship with technology in relation to national security.
She dressed in one of her signature bright hues for the occasion, opting for an orange coat with button detailing on the shoulders and matching hat. She accessorized the look with three strands of pearls, a gold and diamond brooch and—wait for it—a black purse, shoes and gloves. Now, her Launer purse and Gucci loafers are mainstays in her wardrobe, but it was the gloves that really brought the orange-and-black pairing home.
As is typical for the queen, she also rocked another bright hue under her coat and donned a vibrant green floral print gown to add a dash of high-fashion pumpkin to the ensemble.
But her royal ruling on color combos wasn’t the only thing she did today that made headlines. She also flexed her social media muscles and made her first Instagram post in order to celebrate the new Science Museum exhibit, making it truly a day for the record books.
Your move, Kate Middleton and Meghan Markle.
