Queen Elizabeth and Meghan Markle Both Swear by This Super Accessible Entertaining Hack

We'll probably never get to hang out with Queen Elizabeth or Meghan Markle, but that doesn't mean we can't make our own, non-royal gatherings more like theirs.

As it turns out, Her Royal Highness and the Duchess of Sussex agree on one easy and foolproof entertaining trick.

People reports that, while hosting a party at Buckingham Palace, the 93-year-old said that “a bit of toast and tea goes a long way.” (Per Hello!, some of the queens favorite teas are Assam and Earl Grey.)

Meg has shown her affinity for the same combo. As spotted on her makeup artist Daniel Martin's Instagram, Archie's mum enjoyed a spread of tea, avocado toast and chocolates as recently as January 20. Martin went so far as to call his pal "the avocado toast whisperer." Intriguing.

Not only do they share a go-to hosting hack, Markle and the queen also believe in the power of food to bring people together.

In fact, the queen's comment on toast and tea came while she was celebrating the contribution of all faith groups to British life at the reception, where she noted that food was often a way to bring people from different faiths and traditions together.

For her part, Markle released a charity cookbook just last year. The book, titled Together: Our Community Cookbook, benefits the Hubb Community Kitchen, located in the same neighborhood as the Grenfell Tower fire tragedy of 2017. The kitchen was started by women who cooked food for many of the families displaced by the fire.

When in doubt, toast and tea it is.
