The Queen Just Called an Emergency Meeting with the Royal Family

Queen Elizabeth is wasting no time getting to the bottom of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s major announcement.

The 93-year-old monarch reportedly called an emergency meeting in response to the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, who revealed that they’re stepping down as “senior” members of the royal family, as People reports.

According to The Daily Mail reporter Rebecca English, Queen Elizabeth asked to sit down with Prince Charles and Prince William, so they can try to find a solution to Prince Harry and Markle’s request.

“Breaking: the Queen has convened a meeting of all four royal households and ‘tasked’ them with coming up with a ‘workable’ future role for the Duke and Duchess of Sussex within ‘days not weeks,’” English wrote on Twitter.

“Days, not weeks?” It sounds like the queen isn’t thrilled about the situation. English also revealed that “the discussions will take place ‘at pace’ and will involve both the government and the home secretary.” She added that Canada may be involved, too.

Yesterday, Prince Harry and Markle revealed that they’re breaking from their royal duties. Shortly after the news broke, Buckingham Palace released a statement of their own.

“Discussions with The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are at an early stage,” it read. “We understand their desire to take a different approach, but these are complicated issues that will take time to work through.”

Well, this should be awkward.
