Queen Elizabeth, 95, Releases Statement After Positive COVID-19 Test to Congratulate British Olympians

Buckingham Palace revealed this morning that Queen Elizabeth has tested positive for COVID-19.

Per Deadline, a statement from the Palace said the 95-year-old monarch is only experiencing "mild cold-like symptoms." It continued, "She will continue to receive medical attention and will follow all the appropriate guidelines."

Royal fans around the world were quick to send their well-wishes for a speedy recovery. But even mild duties are continuing to be carried out on the queen's behalf, as evidenced by a personal statement she released on her Instagram account this morning (spoiler: it has nothing whatsoever to do with her positive COVID result).

On the official royal family IG account, the queen wrote, "I send my warmest congratulations to the Team GB Women's Curling team on your outstanding performance in winning the Gold Medal at the Beijing 2022 Olympic Winter Games, following the Silver Medal achieved by the Men's Curling team yesterday."

Today's message concluded, "I know that your local communities and people throughout the United Kingdom will join me in sending our good wishes to you, your coaches and the friends and family who have supported you in your great success." She signed the message, "Elizabeth R."

It should come as no surprise that the queen would selflessly send well-wishes to others in a time when she herself is experiencing health issues. However, fans filled the comments section of her Olympics post with plenty of positive messages for the monarch.

One fan wrote, "Would like to wish her majesty a speedy recovery," while another added, "Get well soon your majesty."

The news of the queen's positive test also shouldn't come as a huge shock, as her son, Prince Charles, and her daughter-in-law, Camilla Parker Bowles tested positive for the coronavirus in recent days.

We wish the queen a fast and full recovery.
