The caption reads, "The Queen has inspired many artists and designers during her nearly 70-year reign, and now we’re asking you to be inspired too! If you’re a budding artist or designer aged 13 to 25, based in the U.K., we’d like you to design an emblem for Her Majesty’s Platinum Jubilee next year."
It continues, "The winning design will appear on official merchandise, big screens and extensively across our social media channels in 2022. The competition is being run by the @vamuseum on behalf of Her Majesty The Queen and the winner will be announced this summer."
The announcement also includes a few tips from those who will be judging the selections. One panelist, Gabriella Marcella, said, "How do you make your design different and make sure it stands out? For me, it's following your instincts and having fun with it." Yinka Ilori, a second panelist suggested, "Try to be as authentic as possible and try and tell a story. Storytelling is really key."
In the comments, one fan wrote, "What a brilliant idea!" Another said, "What an amazing opportunity to inspire young talents! Bravo."
In addition to Marcella and Ilori, other panelists include graphic designer Margaret Calvert, who helped create the U.K.'s road signs, and Lubna Chowdary, a famous ceramicist. And according to the official royal website, the winner will not only get to see their designs on merchandise and social media, but also, they'll be invited to attend the Platinum Jubilee celebrations at Buckingham Palace.
Something tells us that these panelists will be knee-deep in submissions this summer.
