There’s a Lot to Unpack from Queen Elizabeth’s Birthday Message to Prince Harry

Prince Harry is celebrating his 37th birthday today and his grandmother is sending her best wishes from across the pond.

To mark Prince Harry's birthday on Wednesday, the 95-year-old monarch shared a heartfelt tribute on Instagram and Twitter, featuring a handful of throwback photos of the prince. “Wishing The Duke of Sussex a very happy birthday!” she captioned the posts.

Not only does the message show that the queen was thinking about her grandson, but also that the two appear to be on good terms and that Her Majesty continues to support the 37-year-old, even though he hasn’t been a senior royal in over a year. At least, that’s what we’re getting from the photo choices.

Elizabeth opted to use four photos in the post, including two of Harry performing his royal duties and one alongside his wife, Meghan Markle. The pics are quite symbolic, considering they show that the queen respects the duke’s marriage and his time as a working member of the royal family and still thinks of him as part of that family structure. In addition, all of the images showcase Harry smiling and looking his happiest.

Queen Elizabeth isn’t the only one who sent well wishes. Prince William shared a short and sweet message on the Instagram he shares with Kate Middleton. “Happy birthday Prince Harry,” the couple captioned a photo of Harry. They even added a balloon emoji. Prince Charles and Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall, posted a similar message.

So, while Harry can’t ring in his big day with his British fam, we’re just happy he has his family in Montecito to enjoy some cake with.
